- More dark side, GT3 arrives soon (specs)
Hey guys, this is my favorite forum and I'm in a dilemma now and you guys are very helpful most of the times hehe.
I had the chance of ordering this GT3 during the summer and now the car is arriving and my dilemma is should I switch my 991 TTS for it or not ? Is the GT3 still gonna hold its value like before even with its damage reputation after all the engine problems in the past ? I know I just took a major hit in depreciation on the turbo ;( Here's the specs on the car

You need to drive the car first--- I did a few times to ensure what I want. The Turbo S is a GT car with luxury and performance beyond approach while the GT3 is a race car for the street. The GT3 is the better car for me, more inspiring and rewarding as a driver. I modded my Turbo S (was one of the first with a GIAC tune) and Cargraphic exhaust. Its a great car and has that incredible launch ability along with high speed power (even moreso after the tune and exhaust) but the GT3 called my name. Its a more involving 3100 lb, 9k rpm screaming machine. The level of handling coupled with the chassis response and steering is top notch. The car is the best RWD launching car I've driven. The PDK-S (GT3 Only) is the most favorable PDK I have had (Porsche wise). But there are others here that want something different or have different needs and personal desires in regards to driving experiences and you might be one of them. I have a few mash and go cars in the RS7, R8 V10, Jag, and Benz.... then I have two that truly involve high (9k) rpm shifting. I love each car when Im driving them. You can not go wrong if you keep the TT-S or swap over. Your build is heavy and nice... mine is similar sans the PCCB's and Buckets (I love the 18 way).
In all fairness I didnt get rid of the Turbo S for the GT3... I got rid of it for the 458. I change cars alot and so do you... so lets see how long this car sits in my garage. Its a great compliment to the 458 and then I have the others as well.

When you do drive it, warm it up use PDK-S, PSE on, and run it in manual... watch your rpms as you will hit 9k rather fast. The LeMans note from the exhaust is crushing. I thought my C4S with the muffler delete from Sharkwerks was amazing; well this even in stock format owns it. Im still getting the muffler delete option as I want more sound than oem.

Nice build, and yes production is ending with the December orders that will end in 1Q15. Porsche will begin GT3 RS production, and that car is scheduled to launch on Geneva. I believe the GT3 orders will end at less than 2000 copies this depreciation will not be a major factor. In addition I wouldn't worry about the engin call due to 2 reported failures, and Porsche recalled all 750 cars that were produced. They all got new engines so it was not a plug and place to fix the bad part. That only impacted the 2014's, and less than 30 cars were purchased back by the dealer because the owners refused them. The buy back cars now have lemon titles because they are buy backs which drives a lemon title. By the way they have been sold at MSRP or above due to the lack of allocations. My mindset is if you have or can get an allocation take it because they will be gone. The 997 is still a great GT3, but the current out performs the GT3 RS 4.0 which is crazy. I just pushed 1000 miles, and this is the best car I have ever driven. Hope that helps. |

Hey brother! We have been through this. Short answer..If you like engaging cars you will never buy another TTS after you get the GT3. Best description ever is from Chris Harris "It just revs and revs and revs!" Freaking amazing.

If it were me choosing between Turbo S and GT3. I'd wait and get a 991 GT3 RS.
Go to Porsche and try to figure out a good deal. My local dealer Freeport Porsche always helped me out when i wanted to switch from one P car to my next. I've owned 05" Turbo 04" Turbo 09" Turbo 11" Panno 4s 13" GTS 99" 996 95" 993 - Great but the 04-05 turbos lol the reliability on those sucked! Anyways you won't be disappointed with a GT3 or the RS. |
