What years does the look of M5 change?
I am interested in how often a certain look changes for a BMW M5? For example in 2008 they look very different and so do 2001, 2016 and now 2019.
Just wondering if anyone knew the exact year ranges the body changed? |

BMW uses model designations to distinguish different generations. So have an understanding of what an e12/e28/e34/e39/e60/f10/f90 is and what the years they were produced (on average...approx every 7 years a new generation 5 series has debuted). Knowing the model nomenclature e28 vs e60 etc...makes it easy when discussing your M5 without having to give the model year etc...it quickly reveals which M5 you have it what it looks like.
Then, BMW also usually does an LCI (life cycle pulse) aka "facelift" around the 5th year of a production run which can also slightly change the look of the car with modest changes to head & tail lights or some other body modification and perhaps interior changes or other options.
