Less back pressure and turbos will take more time to spool as trivial as it can be but kess efficiency and I looked it up and there was a nice video about it that is about a couple of minutes and did aaybthe same!! No just muffling sounds it seems! I wiah he or they were wrong but they seem to know more than me at least! And I hate to hurt the car to sound better not fair - |

After lots of thinking. I took my M5 CP lci for removing resonators. There is NO drone. And car is louder at 2500 3500 rpm. There is no much difference. Only more a little bit. I will make a video soon. 50€labor

Now for the benefit of others, pic attached of "resonator" on CP exhaust. It's basically straight through... |

So to summarize:
Non-CP cars: resonator delete gives slight increase in sound. CP cars: resonator is essentially a straight pipe, leave it be/save your money. Is that about it for a 5 page thread? |

Just get straight pipes, remove resonators and mufflers - turbo cars don't need back pressure like NA cars. Max power. RPi GTM is the way forward. Sounds amazing. Turn off active sound..!!

I was thinkin' (dangerous I know), maybe the resonator delete is the way to go for someone like me. More sound, low cost, probably get a local exhaust shop to do it and I'm passing emissions as well. Any ATL Georgia guys gone this route?

reviving an old thread...
Does anyone have a pic of their non CP resonators? Thinking of doing this but not sure if would make much of a difference in sound. Are CP resonators the same as standard M5 exhaust? |

We removed the resonators, and at same time re-made the X-pipe by hand, this also removes the extra restrictive pinch in the stock X-pipe
definitely felt extra power from this, and totally removes the horrible rasping farting noise. Was a fantastic mod for us, but still drones - |

CP resonators are not the same as standard. See pic above of the CP one. Standard resonators have perforations inside. I removed my resonators (non CP) and disabled active sound. The car is quiet on the inside. I then forced the exhaust valves open. All that did was create drone when the windows where down under 3K rpms. But, cold starts were louder and there was a minor volume increase with the valves open.
