What is an "estate" car?

Is the RS6 different in Europe?

Apologies for the numerous, possibly simple questions, I don't know the Audi line very well...

Estate is basically the Euro term for wagon... the RS6 is wagon only I believe and not coming stateside.

That is correct sir. No RS6 Estate (Wagon) for us USA people. Americans are only getting the RS7. Audi has decided to not even produce a 2014 RS6 Sedan because they think it will not sell well. I had to do some research a while back to find this out. I was disappointed to learn no RS6 Sedan at all.

Yeah, they will be quicker. The S8 with 35 less hp and more weight did 60 in 3.5 secs.

It may not drive and steer like an M5, but don't hate on the AWD and the engine. It will be one quick car from a dig.

AWD RS7 with 550 hp (or more) --- lighter than the S8 which does 3.7 + or - .1...... it will happen

Since they are not on the ground in the States, here is the car and driver test:

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...t-drive-review

3.5 zero to 60
7.9 zero to 100
11.6 1/4 miler

estimated of course but they got 3.7 from the S7 ??????

Why? M5 is in that territory (3.8) with RWD.

Latest rs6 c7 acceleration Test here in Europe, Germany had following number
AutoMotorSport rs6 c7 0-100kmh in 3.5sec, 0-200kmh im 12.1sec (100-200kmh in 8.6sec)
(M6 f13 same mag for example 0-100kmh in 4.1sec, 0-200kmh in 12.1sec (100-200kmh in 8 sec flat)
Todays autobild sportcars rs6 c7 0-100kmh in 3.6 sec, 0-200kmh in 12.4sec (100-200 in 8.8sec)
(M6 same mag 0-100kmh in 3.9 sec, 0-200kmh in 11.3sec (100-200kmh in 7.4 sec)
(M6 test diff. days)
Low Speed acceleration of rs6/7 is strong due to awd AND the very Short gear ratio of the 8 speed gear box. Specialy 1 and 2 gear Ultra short. After passing 100kmh/62mph the rs6 c7 doesnt pull as strong as the m5/6, based on this 2 very first mag tests.
First tunes are out from abt and mtm with 660hp. ( same number from abt as for the S6)

Dont get me wrong, all test numbers are so far from the rs6, the rs7 is not out yet, so no mag test. But as the rs6 and rs7 have the same engine, same gear ratio, simular weight, it is ok to make conclusions.
Overall i think it is save to say from a dig the rs cars will pull till a certain speed, from a roll say 60mph the m5/6 will pull (if you look a bit more in to the acceleration details from those test you see quickly that between 90mph to124mph the rs6 lose quit a bit of time against the m6 and so aswell to the m5)

show me just ONE, single vid where M5/M6 does 0-60 in 3.7, even 3.9 ON THE STREET. Even my grandma can hop into the RS7 and get 3.5s, but for most people, in everyday conditions it's impossible to get the M5 faster than 4.5 to 60. And those times are veeeeery optimistic, even from audi. There's even a difference between 0-60 and 0-62, which for many people means the same but it isn't, because those cars doesn't do 100km/h on 1st gear, like lp670-4 sv did for example.

I have to agree, I have not seen ANY M5 do those numbers on the street.

I think if you break down my 11.9s quarter mile with a 1.96s 60' time, that would imply something close to 3.7s.

Road & Track got 3.6s 0-60 mph for the F10 M5 (with DCT) and Car & Driver 3.7s. The U.S. magazimes use the same GPS datalogging equipment (usually a vbox) to record the acceleration data. Something to note is that U.S. car mags use a 1 foot roll-out in arriving at acceleration times to simulate the timing lights at a drag strip. 1 foot roll-out is merely deducting the time it takes to go the first foot of the acceleration run. The 1 foot roll-out usually slashes about .3s off a 0-60mph time. I believe that Road & Track does not weather correct their data, but most other U.S. car magazines do weather correct the data to a consistent ambient condition. I don't believe European mags do any of that stuff.

Hopefully I will have some vbox acceleration data on my F10 M5 soon. I had to wait for proper break-in procedures and then the weather has been unusually crappy in the DC metro area for the past few weeks.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the M5 F10, but also I have a place in my heart for mighty roaring E63/CLS63 AMG and all weather monster RS6/7 And I'm not hating one or gloryfing the other, but I'm trying to get everything rationally and cool minded.

M5 for pleasure, but not for 1/4
AMG for sound, which gives you smile even at 30mph
RS6 for performance on the street.

Just my 0.02$
