While not exactly the same environment of a running engine, it should give us an indication if they actually do anything at all.

All of the treatments and the hotplates to do this are on order and will be here today, will post results within the next day or two for all those Interested.
What's the mileage of your N63.

How exactly did you determine that it worked. Did you do a boroscope inspection of the valves before and after using the SeaFoam? If so, do you have the before and after pictures?

I had no more smoke from my car when coming to a stop. none from my friends m5 either. that was how we determined it.

Have 150K on it, starting burning oil (quart every 700miles)right around 100K, setup catchcans and increased crankcase Vacuum to buy time (decreased oil consumption to quart every 1200-1500 miles) but around 130K even that wasn't enough, last 20K miles was quart every 1000 miles or less and you can tell by the pics, it shows. Was starting to ping pretty bad unless I ran octae booster at the end with the carbon buildup and oil in the combustion chamber.

Finished up with the testing. I soaked each valve for 30min at a temp 180 degrees.

Before and after pics below, not alot of difference except for the Gumout and Chlorinated Carb Cleaner (NASTY stuff)

I then placed each valve along with 1 that had not been soaked in any solution in a ultrasonic parts cleaner for 1 hour. I did this to ensure each valve go the exact same amount physical work to remove the deposits. Not exactly the same as a valve moving rapidly up and down thousands of times in a engine, but should give us an indication of which of these cleaners did anything to promote the deposits to loosen up.

The Gumout and Carb Cleaner did the best and the Seafoam right after, which was surprising since it initially looked like it didnt do much.

In conclusion, it appears each helps some, however keep in mind in real-life the valves will be exposed to much less concentration of the cleaners then a direct soak and with our turbo charged vehicles, I am not sure I would want large chunks of carbon slamming into the turbo impellers.... An interesting side-note, only the Berryman changed the carbon deposits hardness, it was noticeably softer but still very hard to remove not much came off in the ultrasonic cleaner.

IMHO Walnut blasting is the best if your car it this far gone. Otherwise a cleaning every 10K with gumout, seafoam of one of the others should help keep the heavy deposits from forming somewhat(don't recommend using carb cleaner on a running engine!). How these cleaners effect Oxygen sensors in the long term is still up for debate.

Thank you so much
Honestly it just surprised me cuz I didn’t expect cleaner can do that much
But question is, for f10 m5, how/where do you inject the cleaner??
I can’t figure it out even with the direction I found on Gumout website
“-Warm up engine.
-Locate throttle body.
-Remove air intake hose.
-Spray with straw into throttle body with engine running between 1500-2000 RPM for 30-second intervals with a short rest between each spray to avoid stalling. Do not spray the mass airflow sensor (MAF).
-When done, run engine at idle for a few minutes until it is running smoothly.
-Turn off engine and reattach air intake hose. ”
