Waiting for CP package
If you bought the car pre CP you think its not worth it. If you waited for it - you love it. That's how it typically works on here.
I own every version of the M5 (except the E39 - working on it). The fact of the matter is BMW is constantly improving their products and if you buy the first year of the car you run the risk of missing some very significant improvements that will be made - most notably the CP package. For me - 7K for the improvements FROM THE FACTORY is worth it. For others - maybe not. To each his own.

I don't dispute that for many improvements from the factory are worth it I'm simply saying you can get much more for the $7K. In my case I added a piggy (conservative power but reliable), lightly used AKRA exhaust,KW HAS and drop-ins for $5K. With this setup, I easily walk a stock ZCP car while sounding better, generate more power, handle exceptionally well and still had $ leftover for wheels. Like you said to each his own; I'm just pointing out that many owners deliberately go the Non-ZCP route.

Subtle differences but differences none the less.

Installed ... if you're patient you can find great deals in the classifieds on this and other forums. That and a trusted shop (in my case Velos in Miami) and you don't have to bleed cash. Even if you spend 7K you can get much more for your money.

So I dropped $5k (refundable) to get my spot on the list secured. Before I actually place the order I need to decide between this and a comparably priced Panamera (likely a 4S or GTS if it's launched soon - Turbo is an unfair compare given huge pricing difference).
Really torn right now. M5 will undoubtedly destroy a 4S straight line but the Panamera drives much better than the current M5 and has a nicer interior. Question is; how much will the M5 improve with the new generation...

streets the lci will only be 8-13 mo's behind the non lci .. thats exactly what happened w my 13 and its kinda pretty frustrating , they should just do a lci launch and keep it thru production imo that way we all have the same shit not chasing down $2k headlights and shit Neil |

Clearly this is some insight what the M5 will look like. Here we go M550, and I would be very surprised if the M5 is a draw dropper can't change from the base model too much.

I keep my cars many years and don't pay a lot of attention to the small steps of evolution unless there's a real game changer. I'm very happy with my 2013 M5 and it remains to be seen how the AWD will change the car. But from strictly a visual perspective, the 2018 5 series makes me glad I'm happy with the 2013! I don't care for either the exterior changes or the interior changes!
