CarBahn Autoworks Flash Tune for F10 M5

Hi everyone,

Earlier this week we announced our new flash software for the F-series M3/M4, as well as the F-series M5/M6. There wasn't a post separately posted for the F10 board, so here it is!

A quick introduction for those unfamiliar- CarBahn Autoworks is a company started by Steve Dinan after his departure from Chip Ganassi Racing. We are located in the Silicon Valley, and we are proud to offer maintenance and repair services, services of our engine shop, and racing team. Our engine shop is fully operational and "cranking" out anything from engine repair to full race motors with dry sump systems. Our race team is currently competing in IMSA with two Audi R8s!

Getting back to the software:

Application: F10, F06, F12, F13

Power gain:

For non-Competition models
Measured CarBahn rear wheel HP, 610 @ 6,100 RPM
Corrected to CarBahn flywheel HP, 683 @ 6,100 RPM
Measured CarBahn rear wheel torque, 620 @ 4,000 RPM
Corrected Carbahn to flywheel torque, 694 @ 4,000 RPM

Compared to factory claimed figures, we have achieved an +83hp/112lb-ft gain.

For Competition models
Measured CarBahn rear wheel HP, 620 @ 6,100 RPM
Corrected to CarBahn flywheel HP, 694 @ 6,100 RPM
Measured CarBahn rear wheel torque, 620 @ 4,800 RPM
Corrected Carbahn to flywheel torque, 694 @ 4,800 RPM

Compared to factory claimed figures, we have achieved a +67hp/101lb-ft gain.

Our flash tuner tablet is capable of saving your factory tune so that you can re-flash back to stock at will, datalogging, checking and clearing faults, as well as other advanced diagnostic features.

We are also happy to announce that we will mirror the factory warranty for cars still within the 4yr/50k factory new car warranty from BMW.

We will be happy to answer questions below in the thread, or please feel free to give us a call at 650-495-0421. More information can also be had on our website:
https://carbahnautoworks.com/product...ge-1-software/

Update:

We are now offering an option to buy software with or without a warranty. The price breakdown for the tune without the warranty is as follows:

• F8X M3/M4 - $750.00 for the software + $225.00 for the tablet (vs. $1500 and $1750 with warranty)
• F Series M5/M6 incl. comp pkg cars - $1000.00 for the software + $225.00 for the tablet (vs. $2000 and $2250 with warranty)

We are announcing a holiday sale, good until the end of the year. Software will be 15% off across the board. Flash tuner is exempt from the sale as we already are selling those at cost.

I am surprised to see that it costs nearly three times more than an Open Flash Tablet and more than twice as much as the Bootmod3 application.

Also why would you need to offer to maintain the BMW factory warranty if your tunes are so safe and reliable?

Good question. We are offering the warranty because we recognize (and are sure that many forum members have experienced) that a component failure, even if arguably not caused by the tune, can be denied by the dealership for coverage. At best, the owner must go through the headache and anxiety of wondering whether the repair will be covered while BMW sends out a TSE to investigate. Our intent is to provide a worry-free experience for those who would otherwise have to write off the peace of mind of warranty coverage.

Hope this answers the question!

Thanks for the quick response, much appreciated. So as I understand the cost which is a lot higher than other tuners is due to the warranty protection that you offer and not just because the maps are so much better.

As you say piece of mind on these cars is paramount.

That's a part of it, yes. On the flip side of that coin, however, our price is also considerably lower than those of any alternatives that will also provide you with the matching warranty.

Why a difference between comp and non-comp. once new load targets are set it should be the same given all else is the same related to the engine.

Sorry for the delayed response! We will be keeping up with the questions and comments as quickly as possible moving forward.

The difference is simply put because it is easier to make slightly higher power because the car comes with more power from the OEM software.

That's the idea. Obviously, we will have our process of investigating the claim as well, but the short answer is yes.

Hi Everyone,

We have an exciting update regarding the recently released flash tunes from CarBahn AutoWorks. First, the price of our flash tuner tablets has dropped from $250 to $225.

Next, we are now offering an option to buy software with or without a warranty.

Finally, we are offering an across the board discount of 20% on all Stage 1 software (software only, tuner price will still be $225) for the month of October. The discount applies whether you are buying the software with or without the warranty or with or without the flash tuner tablet.

We appreciate all of the questions so far. Look forward to hearing your feedback.

I'm interested in a tune for my 2014 Comp M5 however I'm concerned about your numbers because we don't have anyway of knowing the actual improvement to justify cost vs value. You haven't established the actual gain from your tune. You are starting with what BMW says the car has. How about a dyno from start and then a result after your tune. Everyone states our cars are under reported in terms of torque/hp.

Thanks.

We are working on pulling some dyno charts to post on our website and the forums soon. Stay tuned!

Have you posted any dyno charts? And how your dyno compares to mustang or dynojet numbers?

Let me know if you offer the 20% off the tune sometime again in the future; I may just take you up on that. Thanks.
