For those with tune, 13 vs 6
Actually 6 vs 13 ... (tuned)
And now 52 vs 16 (stock)

It's interesting.
Out of 68 stock (52 +16) we have 23.52% (16/68) chance of DM.
Out of 19 tuned car (13 +6) we have 13 car with DM.
Considering 23.52% on stock let's put 23.52% of those 13 (3 car)out of picture since there was possibility for DM anyways.
Now we have 10 car out of 16 (10 + 6) car or 62.5% (10/16) DM.
Conclusion: Tuning will increase the chance of DM by 166% (62.5/23.52 -1)

very weird

going into shop 3rd time on wednesday! very pissed off
should have gone with Leib or BR

when i had bms, i was not getting dt mals...
I have the same prob with Br too, it was bcos they advance too much on the timing but I'm glad they did that bcos after running methanol with it the car run very very strong & turn into a monster thereafter no more any cel light!

Great write up.

With that said it would be interesting to see what tunes That DO NOT have DTM. Maybe those with the ESS, AMS, & Eurocharged can chime in. The one thing is that you really have to push the car to the limit to get these dtm ( full throttle up to 155mph) . So if you have not done that with the above tunes then your data won't be as helpful until you do.

Sounds like that would give some great answers.

Hi all,
I got the DT malfunction this week. Luckily I had read about it before so knew not to worry too much. The car is stock and a was doing about 150-160 km/h at the time, pulling quite hard onto the motorway, whereas usually I drive it quite calmly..
Strange..

I have catless downpipes with microcats and had previously been getting the Malfunction almost every other time I did a hard pull...but after replacing a faulty ignition coil and all new spark plugs, I've only gotten 1 malfunction in 4 months...and I have a heavy foot...

Engine pulls smooth and hard now...no complaints

I don't have a tune...although I flashed my ECU via OBD with Alex@alpine to install the Euro-Competition package engine software. I did this to get rid of the CEL. It's been 1000 miles and so far so good.

Sorry if my post was confusing, Spinny (I just re-read it and it was). Yes to DTM, still no tune.

Thinking fuel pump as I just posted in new thread.

Just started getting this error after one year of ownership - no mods. 3 times in the past week. Ugh.

Had a drivetrain malfunction error maximum output not available and then the engine cut off. Happened on the highway. Car is ready now the dealer says it's a fuel pump and fuel module issue and have replaced it. Is there any one that had a similar issue?

Not sure but now that I've run 10000 miles on the BR tune I can report I have only had one dtmal many many months ago running in 110F heat on 91 pump gas leaving CA to move to TX..
To be honest, it's been such a fantastic remap I am not sure I want to mess with it.. I make good torque and hp, and with this new RPI GTM exhaust, the car sounds pretty mean.

23% is pretty high for dtm on stock cars, I thought the f10 had a pretty bullet proof reliability recored?

Usually seemed to occur during hard acceleration
But seen even during light driving

When occurs 90% power is lost
Car will drive but not perform

It's interesting. I got this twice on my 2012 550i, I also got this once or twice on my 2013 M5.

However I have never got this message on my 2014 M5.
