Current Market Pricing Questions. Looking to buy a 2014+ M5

Hello everyone! I have done a lot of research on the M5 that I want. I initially wanted a 6 speed, but since they are super hard to find, I am considering settling with a 7 speed DCT. I have found a car that is local to me. Here is the listing for a 2015 M5:

https://www.bmwofmurrieta.com/invent...cpo.bmwusa.com

The car has most of the options, except for night vision and the rear entertainment. This means it has the competition, drivers assistance, and the executive package.

It is pretty high mileage, but I am mechanically inclined and do all/most of my work on all my BMWs. I would like to purchase an M5 and I'm wondering if this is the one. If y'all think this is priced fairly, I wouldn't mind picking it up this week. Any tips or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I have been reading older posts and it seems like 3 years ago I could have gotten a 2015 with lower mileage than this for the same price as this one, so i'm a bit disappointed at the market situation, but it could also be that this car is overpriced and it won't really sell at that price.

Any comments about the dealership, or if you were the previous owner, or even price/negotiating tactics. Thanks!

It's pretty high, I think I'd pass just because of the feeling of overpaying.

You could've bought the same car with less miles, enjoy it for 2-3 years, and sell it for this price. It wouldn't sit right with me.

For reference, around 2020, 2015-2016 with 25-35k miles we're about $45k-$55k.

I just bought my M5 so I know the prices pretty well and that is way too high for that M5 with 80k miles. Yeah it's got all the options and it's a 2015 but you can get one with less miles prob 20k less miles for at least $10k cheaper than that if your willing to settle with a 2013 or 14. Also just my personal opinion but idk if I'd want a car with the competition package. These cars have fairly stiff ride as is without the comp pack I can only imagine it's prob like riding with a normal M5 in sport or sport plus which would be way too stiff imo for it to be while it's in comfort mode.

Thank you everyone! I am not going to move forward with the purchase unless I can get the car for 39k which is fair purchase price according to KBB. According to the dealership they can't budge even a dollar on the price, because it's priced to sell.

After a lot of research and bringing a BMW tech to check the car out with me I found out that the spark plugs and diff oil have never been changed. The coolant was clearly never flushed (it was disgusting inside the res) and it needs new rotors all around as well as front break pads. There was also visible oil by the PCV hoses.

In terms of exterior... the car does have some scratches on the paint and one scuff, but nothing major although the paint swirls did bother me a little. The inside was fine with the exception of wear on the steering wheel (obviously), on the center console arm rest leather, and the head rest from the driver side. The stitching on the passenger seat was becoming undone too. The wheels also had curb rash.

The only thing that bothers me is that they gave me a "Hendrick Affordable Vehicle Inspection" that passes the car with flying colors. The rotors need to be done ASAP, but according to the inspection it's good to go. It also mentions no oil leak and it "passed" the coolant fluid and differential oil inspection, when the turbo coolant res was low :/ and while the fluid in there was nasty.

Anyways, all of this led me to me an app/website/chrome extension idea. I have been purchasing PPIs for cars that I don't purchase and it's money down the drain unfortunately. They also ran my credit and I probably won't even be purchasing the car because they want full price. What I want to do is be able to share this information to potential buyers. Not everyone will be able to or want to do a PPI on a car, especially when they're given a sheet that says that the car is in mint condition and especially since it is being sold at a nice BMW dealership that sells a lot of cars. I would like for the platform to be simple to use. Just paste a vin and it will show you if any PPIs have been purchased by previous potential buyers (like me), or notes on the car from previous potential buyers that i mentioned above like curb rash, passenger seat stitching, etc.

I am very good at noticing these smaller things, but other people may not. Anyways, I am a SWE by trade so this shouldn't be too difficult to get started, but I wanted to gauge interest. LMK! and thanks again for the reminder that this car is indeed overpriced.

I've got a Singapore Grey 2013 M5 6-Speed in SoCal if you're interested. I've been on the fence selling it, but have my eye on some other toys. 65k miles on it. bartolucci.dan@gmail.com if you wanna chat about it.
