Talk me out of selling my F10 6MT
Ok folks I have been going back and forth with selling my bone stock space grey 2013 6MT. Nothing wrong with it. 70k miles. It sits more then I like so I always think of selling however when I get in it, I say to myself “no way I can sell this”. To me it’s not about getting the 30-35k for it because then I would just buy something else and do the same thing. With this kind of mileage with maybe putting 3-5k a year on it, what would you do? Are these worth anything 80-100k miles down the road you think?

Your car is probably worth closer to $40k. It probably won't depreciate or appreciate substantially at 100k miles. If you really hold on to it, in 20 years it may be worth more but I doubt that is the reason to keep the car. I mean these are not Ferraris but still rare and will hold their value even when driven IMO. The way to look at this is probably what will happen to what you would replace it with (if you are to buy another car)? The chances are that will depreciate.
I'd say keep it and drive it a few thousand miles a year if you really like it that much, have the space, and you don't need that $40k for something else.

Hang on to it! That it's bone stock is a huge plus-mine is and will remain that way too. Think of how uncommon they are and how few other manual super sedans there are. M5 is the king and this is it! I think it feels like a big e90 and it just shrinks when driven hard on a good winding road-BMW's have always had that magic and the F10 has it too. The F10 is also a classically beautiful car as well, best looking 5 series next to the e34 IMO. These will be appreciated more and more as time marches on.

Keep it. The manuals which are stock are appreciating. I have a 2013with 42k miles on it (manual and sakhir orange). These are rare enough and they have already started to increase in value. Keep it and drive it a few k miles a year!
For background, I almost sold mine for 47k 3.5 years ago. Now I'm pretty sure I could get close to 60k for it on BAT. Car isn't depreciating if miles kept low. It's actually increasing (perhaps slowly but surely) with the manual transmission. |
