Sounds like your already describing what the new c63s is. ICE engine alone in that is a 2.0L 4 banger pumping out nearly 500hp (with a tune it would be well over 500hp ice alone)+ a 200hp electric motors added to it.

I still hate it and would never want to drive that compared to something like a 4.4l biturbo v8 awd m5 or e63s. I guess the new models that will be v8 hybrid will be interesting to see, but doesn’t seem like that gt63sE is all that great on gas as the hybrids they are doing are primarily there for added performance while still being more “efficient” than pure ICE.

What a shame they continue to carry on with the bucktooth beaver frontend.

Still just as hideous from the first time I saw that design language.

Its an i4 on steroids, so it has that horrible small rear door and no room in the back for an adult.

I have a plaid and an RS E TRON GT. I’ve been all in on EVs. Let’s not forget there is a Plaid plus out there with 4680 batteries and 1100+ hp. They can run back to back to back.We are just getting started here.

I see manufacturers making EVs with more power and torque (torque is probably a given) as an advantage against their ICE counterparts. Otherwise, if you have an H80 (or whatever next-gen is) ICE M3 that has 580hp base and 600hp in the comp, but 530 in the EV...how many ///Mthusiasts are going to buy the EV over the ICE? You're probably going to have to talk torque figures and 0-60 times. Clearly, they're going to try and steer folks over to the EV and add things not present on the ICE version as an incentive. The goal seems to eventually make everything an EV, but it sounds like BMW M has decided not to make 4 cylinders (thankfully).

I don't think I'll ever think oh man I wish my car was silent and didn't make vroom or turbo spooling sounds. I guess we can hope Dodge's electric growl takes off /s lol

I just got tired of dirty gas pumps that don’t work. Pumping gas in the cold, credit card reading not working. Too much bs.

Although I've not encountered 'dirty gas pumps/credit card not reading,' I sometimes see pumps with plastic bags over the pump handle letting customers know that the pump is down. I'll admit pumping gas in the cold sucks, but I'll take that 2-3 minutes of gas pumping over the 45-minute charge that isn't even a full battery and multiple 45-minute trips to drive a long distance. I think EVs are great in town and within the city or burb you live in, but I don't think they're that great for those who travel long distances frequently (convenience mostly).

My opinion is that EVs will take off more when offered with more range or a combination of current range and faster charging (such as with solid-state batteries). If you could pull up to a charging/gas station and plug in and drive away with a full charge within 5-10 minutes, you'd be on to something. I don't think Americans (or likely people in general) have the patience to wait 45-1.5 hours for full batteries while traveling.

Since when did they have a plaid plus? Is this model out yet?

Personally, I do not buy into the "electric car is going to save the planet theory" that our brilliant politicians are forcing down our throats. The net carbon reduction of an electric vehicle and their batteries is minimal. At least right now. And what to do with zillions of spent batteries.
Agreed. The electric car saving the planet from carbon emissions theory is a proven fallacy. That debate has been over for years.

However, this car looks pretty sick and I could see having one along side one of my ICE cars. I don't discriminate...if it looks good and is fast it checks enough boxes for me. In fact...I LOVE the way this car looks...and that CSL grill is vindication for all who bashed the original grill when the G80 was launched.

As far as the fun to drive debate...any 300hp+/300tq+ manual transmission ICE car, especially a RWD, will ALWAYS and FOREVER be more fun to drive over any electric car....that is just a fact. It might be one's preference to drive an electric, but they won't be having more fun if they know what driving fun is. That straight line power is fun, but it stops there for electric. Driving a manual can be fun at varying speeds and having the sound of an ICE adds to the experience. Drive the canyons for an hour in a Tesla Plaid and then go back out in a supercharged E92 M3 with a cat/muffler delete for an hour and say you had more fun driving the Tesla...with a straight face...didn't think so. haha

I'm not hating...just saying.

If we could just have both, the auto world would be perfect. I believe variety trumps all!! We are all getting screwed if ICE's go away and we are left with only Electric. In fact, its my belief that electric cars are the gateway for mandated, self driving cars. The plan is to have us not drive AT ALL. I hope I'm wrong....or dead before it happens.

Love the idea of it but hate the reality of it. Let’s see it on the track first I say!
