ESS Tuning - Catless and HiFlow Catted Downpipes F1X M5/M6 [FIRST LOOK]

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Wanted to share the first of two new Downpipe options from ESS Tuning, both in Catless and HiFlow (200cpsi) catted options.

Restrictions in the exhaust system robs horsepower and torque especially on turbocharged cars. Thus, removing as much exhaust flow restrictions will increase horsepower and torque significantly. The factory catalytic converters found in the factory downpipes are a big culprit of this and is a major exhaust flow restriction. The factory catalytic converters are made up of catalyst material formed into "honeycomb" weaves. Exhaust gas must pass through these tiny "honeycomb" weaves on their way to the exhaust system thus causing a major exhaust flow restriction. It also causes turbulence after the catalytic converter which causes the exhaust flow to slow down (which increases restriction). By replacing the factory downpipes and catalytic converters with our Catless Downpipes by ESS Tuning, more power is unleashed! You will feel the difference instantly.

New cars don't see testing for 6 years in CA, but would have to say likely not since they flow higher than the stock converters and will arrest any trace of fuel smell. A flash tune will be needed in order to take care of CEL.

For those interested in making serious power down the road, downpipes are a must.

Catless is good for ~15-20whp, the catted version about 10whp on stock platforms depending on fuel and conditions. Those running a tune should see slightly higher gains.
