Metal Shaving DCT
Just wanted to get some feedback from the folks on here.
The other day I started noticing some noise from the middle of the car, my intial thought was that its from drive shaft. I jack up the car today and notice there’s some oil drops on the dct plastic cover. I take it all apart and pan is completely dry, I then checked the driveshaft and nothings wrong with it. I open the dct fill plug and oil is coming out. I then decided to take the dct pan/filter apart. The pan has metal flakes, filter and all inside the transmission. Car is not low on fluid, about 7.5 liter(estimate) came out. Car currently has 67k miles. I bought the car at 25k miles, I serviced the dct at 35k miles, changed both filters and a new pan, I remember back then there were sum metal particles on the magnets normal wear. Harly any just some sludge on the magnets. But not to this extent. Car has no check engine light, still shifts fine. Of course I haven’t stepped on it when I started hearing the noise. Has this happened to anyone else? or what could have caused this?. I’m thinking of buying a low miles DCT and swapping it out. What do you guys recommend. Thanks for reading |

I'd definitely replace. Probably a failing bearing and it would be a good idea to replace it with another DCT that was in good working order before being removed.
