My experience after 3 days with the ps4s

Hey there,

I wanted to share my experience after 3 days with the new ps4s.
I have in rear 305/25/21

I drove before 3 years with the pss and had huge grip issues in 1st and 2nd. gear. Also in 3rd gear under 120 Km/h. my pss still had plenty of profile but because I heard so much positive about the new ps4s in grip and so I wanted to test them out.

i run 618whp / 688wtg.

on the day when the tires arrived I touched the tires for the first time and I noticed directly how sticky the rubber is. After the first kilometers I felt a quieter noise. maybe it was just imagination.

tire pressure I have set to 2.2 bar.

I noticed directly that the tires had more grip. but the grip became better increasingly.

and now after 3 days and about 500 km driven I can say that the grip is like day and night compared to the pss. I can only confirm this as many write.
It also rained yesterday and had much better grip than before. I regret that I did not buy the ps4s earlier.

All of this was tested at 20 degrees Celsius outside temperature and about 38 degrees Celsius tire temperature.

I estimate that I can go in 2nd gear with full throttle up to 80-90% with grip. Before with the pss i would say about 40%-50% with grip.
within 3rd gear i have now 100% grip.

I hope I can help you with the mature decision of tires between the ps4s and others.

sorry for my grammar I've tried hard ;-)

if you get so much better grip with the ps4, I can not imagine how good then the toyos R888R have to be

they're not great tires for anything other than blasting in a straight with....they suck in the rain, they're loud (they HUMMMMMMMM), kick up every single spec of earth on the ground (rocks, rocks, sand, rocks and more rocks) and last 1/2 the life of other tires (assuming all equal)

that being said they did wonders on my stock wheels on my 1000hp 996tt, but a better PS2 tires outlasts the r888 and outperform 90% of the time.

Without a doubt the PS4S is the best high performance street summer tire you can buy right now. I went from PSS to the PS4S on my M3 and it was night and day. I've decided to go w/ the PS4S on my M5 as well, just trying to decide on sizing.

Thank you for contacting Michelin Customer Care.

Regarding our chat about Pilot Super Sport.

Since your car is a BMW and we only have the PSS with BMW star-marking the ideal match would be to mount the PSS since it is homologated for your car.

However, if you really want to have the PS4S it is possible for you to mount this tyre if you mount in set of 4 but our recommendation is PSS.

Here follows a recommendation:

For your car:

Make: BMW
Range: M5
Motor: 4.4 V8 bi-turbo
Model: F10
With tyre size:
Front: 265/35 R20
Rear: 295/30 R20

MICHELIN recommends the following tyre:

MICHELIN Pilot Super Sport*
Specially engineered for super sport cars and ultra high performance tuning

Product benefits:

Safety even in the most demanding conditions
- Three metres shorter braking distance on wet roads(1)
- Technology coming from 15 consecutive Le Mans 24 Hour victories.

The best dry handling
• N°1 in dry handling
• The fastest tyre

Variable Contact Patch 2.0
Whether you're accelerating flat out in a straight line or cornering at high speed, you still get optimum grip.
• When cornering, the shape of the contact patch changes but the amount of rubber in contact with the road surface stays the same.
• MICHELIN Pilot Super Sport has benefited from the latest digital simulation software used in the aeronautics and automobile industries.
These state-of-the-art tools have enabled the forces and temperatures to be more evenly distributed over the contact patch.

You can find the full specification on this link:

https://www.michelin.co.uk/auto/tyres/pilot-super-sport

Here is the European labelling tyre model and sizes:

Front: 265/35 R20
Fuel efficiency: E
Wet grip: B
External noise: 071db

Rear: 295/30 R20
Fuel efficiency: E
Wet grip: B
External noise: 073d

In addition, on this link you can find the nearest Michelin dealers in your area:

http://www.michelin.co.uk/tyres/dealer-locator

You can contact any one of them for availability and to make the search faster, you can provide them with this article number:
Michelin Pilot Super Sport* Extra Load 265/35 R20
Article number: 016663

Michelin Pilot Super Sport* Extra Load 295/30 R20
Article number: 364257

I hope this information was helpful. Please do not hesitate to contact us again if you have any further questions, we will be more than happy to help.

Kind regards,

Andreas

Because they've signed a contract to do so.

Just got mine put on last night, seem to be fine. Slightly better traction for me so far one 1 second gear pull so far. Coming from 295 PSS as well.

I'm stock ride height currently, non comp pack car.

I've got MPS4s on mine too and as you say, grip is fantastic.

Has anyone else seen this https://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Articl...Tyre-Test.htm? The latest generation Eagle F1s won overall but the MPS4s performed very well. I'd be interested to know whether anyone has tried them on a more powerful car than they used in the review.
