Extended Warranty
The car is 3 years old at the end of October so thought I would get a quote from BMW for an extended warranty.
I was pleasantly surprised £875 a year fully comprehensive with breakdown cover and a £250 Excess You can have £100 excess for £1078 and £0 excess for £1392 but the one lump sum payment of £875 seems like the best option |

Yes it's done only 13,800 miles but it's a small price to pay for a year of trouble free ownership plus if I sell it it will be a big selling point |

I had the BMW warranty for the remaining 6 months passed on from the last owner where I claimed for a broken a/c condenser with about 2 months to go and all renewed free of charge then I didn't renew it for the £840 they wanted and up to now it's been trouble free for two years at 34k miles now.

No, Allianz if the underwriter on a BMW extended warranty although the work is done within the BMW dealer network.

I have comprehensive warranty and besides wear and tear like clutch, brakes etc everything is covered. Although there are exceptions, for instance if the wear and tear is due to a fault covered under warranty then they would cover it. |

Allianz pay out to the dealers who do the work. I think we are all talking about the same thing. And for wear and tear: "Failure of covered components for wear and tear is also included up to 100,000 miles from registration". As an example I had a comp warranty claim initially rejected for bushings (not M5) as they were considered wear and tear and my policy had started before allianz added wear and tear to the comp policy. After a chat, they agreed to add W&T to my policy retrospectively and covered the costs for replacement. |

I read somewhere else as well that it increases significantly once you hit 60k. Maybe I will be able to squeeze one more renewal before that happens Having said that I am not sure with BM3 stage 1 running what will happen if it comes to a claim, lol. |
