Interesting review........although it is kinda hard to deal with the Dutch accent which sounds very strong and makes it sounds like he wants to spit or something (no offense to people from the Netherlands or in Belgium)
Anyways, the review is spot on. Fastest production M5, great interior, etc. I do agree on one downside that the reviewer mentioned at the end: The exhaust on this car is OK..........but not great or fantastic The only way to make the exhaust sound exciting is either purchasing the BMW-Akra MPE system or by going through aftermarket exhaust system. Stock base exhaust just doesn't cut it imho The reviewer was right that BMW should ask MB and Audi on how their turbo V8s produce a more exciting exhaust sound (on their basic OEM exhaust systems)..... |

Performance packages and all that nonsense was more of a reason to stick with BMW because they gave you mostly everything included under the Base price. Now after 6 more BMW's over the last few years and even my 13 M5 to my 14 M5, the option list just keeps growing. It went from 108k to almost 140k right around the LCI with every option!!! WTF. It's gotten to the point where you really aren't given much in the base model considering this is a "luxury business sedan" as the M division CEO had named it while under development. Porsche 911's I can see as the exception unless you go for a Panamera whereby I think you might need to get your head examined to purchase one of those that isn't slightly used when the car comes out to close to 200k or more for a turbo S. Pretty damn nuts if you ask me, but there in lies the option scheme. Funny thing is that the options are important to their margins, but for the M cars and AMG's alike, I think its rather done in poor taste and shouldn't be so for the target market. I can understand the Carbon Ceramic Breaks, B&O stereo, and maybe even the carbon fiber accessories for the purposes of aesthetics. But having all these other features that each customer knowingly desires puts the brand back a few steps in progress. This is why you won't see an exhaust system that sounds amazing as standard because well.... it would be bad for business lol. You might even see MB and Audi soon copy bmw in this respect. There's a huge amount of money to be made in the aftermarket business and they are slowly moving into the territory. Look at how they screwed everyone over with the new BOSCH ECU's! Dinan spent millions trying to crack the damn thing and in the end they needed to use a piggy back like everyone else. BMW is also trying to protect their CPO program and having people turn in cars that had JB4's and other tunes when their leases were up probably cost them a ton of money to fix and cut into those margins as well. This has become more of a rant than anything now so I'll just sum it up. BMW doesn't care, more and more features we take for granted will become options, the cars will keep going up in price, more things will rattle, shake and squeak, and in the end, we will keep on buying them because they are still amazing machines. But I'm done with them if they create a catalog like Porsche does where the damn steering wheel may become an option soon. |

To the poster ranting above, M has become boring and run of the mill IMHO. M now stands for Money and Marketing, not for enthusiast cars anymore. Disappointed since I am also a lifelong fanatic of the brand.

Flamish would be the same language but more German sounding at times. (Or as we like to call it, dutch without the accent ) To be honest I seldomly enjoy reviews from this channel... They are notoriously pro-VAG (well just pro-money I guess) when selecting items to post and giving comments in videos. So much that it becomes annoying to read/watch at times. |

If you look objectively at what you get for your money, Audi, BMW, and Mercedes are all within the same ball park, and nowhere near Porsche when it comes to options inflation.

I don't quite like the way he review the car. I am looking for a review like what Chris Harris does!

Saw this car in person in dealer showroom. Pictures don't do it justice, car is sick. Too bad dealer markups are astronomical on these.
