Toyo R888R's Not Gripping Good at All
Hey everyone. I have a 2016 F10 M5 Competition with a KW HAS kit sitting on Vorsteiner VFF 105 wheels in a 9.5" front and 11.0" rear. i am running Toyo R888R's. Up front i have 285/35-20 and in the rear i have 315/30-20. Im running 32-35 lbs of air in them as well. The tires were brand new when we installed them. So no unknowns there.
I know that in order to get the rears not to rub we had to go full negative camber. Which i believe is -2 degrees. I could be wrong on the exact measurement. So, the problem Im having is, they just dont grip. They slide all the time. 4 wheel slides as well. Im talking at 60mph and up. I have had them loose grip at 90mph through a turn. Now, thank god the car has such a great traction system. It only slides for a second or two and then regains traction and off to the next turn where it does the same. One other note, when i hit the center stripes in the road or the turtles in the center it slides really bad. Now that is kinda understandable. But Sliding through a turn with no paint on the road no dew on the road. That i cant figure out. So, if anyone has any ideas please let me know. These are supposedly the best tires you can buy. So i would like to drive my car the way it should be driven. Thanks for reading and i appreciate any ideas or concerns you might have. |

I just installed mines and drove roughly 200 miles and so far so good. Tires grip with no slippage. Have you tried doing alignment?
Side note: love the PSM kit! Can’t wait for mines to come in! |

You can't really get them hot enough on the street to work efficiently or achieve their designed level of grip. They are also one of the least grippy performance tires you can buy. Cup 2's are the way to go if you want grip or stick with PS4s for better street ability and rain grip.

yes did alignment when we installed them. PSM is the greatest kit out there. Post a pic or two when you get it installed. I would love to see it.

I've never seen anyone use R888Rs and have a good time. They are ok tires but if they are cold, no grip, if they are hot, they are greasy. Even when the temp is perfect, they have mediocre grip.
