Akra or nothing for me. The stock system sounds very nice with decat downpipes, with no drone and isn't too overbearing. I wouldn't change my Akra for anything. It isn't massively different, but somehow a lot more exotic sounding.

a lot of people, myself included, really like the Soul exhaust. Might be another one to add.

Depends what type of exhaust you want and if you wish to retain the cats or go catless.

I would say the top 3 full exhausts systems are FI, Eisenmann & Akra (bmw) in no order whatsoever. I've heard all 3 in person & can't justify which sounds better than the other. I personally have the Akra as it came equipped on my spec & can't wait to pair it with downpipes which would be the cherry on top!

YouTube is your friend. Just type in “what’s the best sounding BMW F10 M5 exhaust systems”. You can hear them all there.

Not all exhausts allow you to maintain valve control, I know Akra does

I have another suggestion for you. It costs a fraction of the money you would invest on these aftermarket exhausts.

It is a simple modification of the original M5 exhaust where you remove the resonator in the middle and you modify the back boxes with some welding.

This can be done easily at any exhaust shop that know their trade. You can also add tailpipes of your choice.

I recently had my OEM exhaust modified and paid £500 in total. The sound is sporty and the flow is there. You also get to keep the standard functions in place.

I know it's not fancy but the OEM exhaust is really good and does not have restrictions. Unless you are trying to save some weight (in that case titanium would be your cup of tea..) there's no point spending thousands on this.

just me 2 cents. good luck!

Note that "best" can vary per taste. There is no single "best" color, there is no single "best" exhaust, and so on.

Make a call based on your taste but hear them in person if you can. If not, there is always marketplace.

Good luck!

I have the armytrix ss exhaust valvetronic, catback. It idles well. Cold start
will wake up the neighbors, and definitely know it's around when I gun it.
I didn't want too loud, but loud enough. Also took a lot of weight off the car as well.
