Carbon Diffuser affects Kick to Open?

Hey fellow members,

A few months ago I put on a M performance carbon rear diffuser, that's the factory small center piece not the entire the rear diffuser. What I noticed right away when I got back my car was that the kick to open feature no longer worked. I tried kicking it as I always do which is actually a little hard as there is a fin right in the center where you usually kick. I tried for 5 mins without getting it work once. I was paranoid about actually hitting the diffuser so I got as close as I could but nothing worked. Is this normal? I wasn't aware that this part would make it not function anymore. Good thing the diffuser looks awesome.

This is normal. When purchasing the M Performance rear diffuser insert it states that you will lose the functionality of the kick motion trunk release.

Yes it's normal. I got a full carbon diffuser and it the kick to open feature doesn't work. It's the price to pay for looking good.

No such feature on UK or euro cars as far as I know unless it was an option.

Thanks everyone for solving the mystery. I got it used so I didn't get the warning. I'm ok with the trade off. I just thought the tech put it on wrong and busted something.
