Bootmod 3 Tune
anyone ran this with OEM spark plugs? Just purchased but after reading through the instruction they highly suggest changing plugs to NGK . I just did my plugs back in October .

I've read that some cars have no problem running stock plugs. I ran a stage 1 with no problem and they had 10k miles on them with stock gap. I think the gapping would be of most importance rather then if it's Bosch or ngk but I'm no expert.

i went OST Stage 1 Beta and got Drivetrain malfunction (misfires) went back to stock no issues. So i am changing my Sparks to NGK and gapping them. From what i hear if your sparks are new you will be fine but on a stage 1 without gapping them they will just go bad quicker.

I have the STG 2 93octane and started with stock plugs at stock gaps because that's what I was told to do by Halim and see if I had misfires first. I had misfires at around 4,200rpm and up so then he told me to get the NGK plugs and gap between .018 - .020. I gapped them the new NGK to .019 and no misfires. It has been good for about a year now.

I have BM3 Stage 1, 93 with stock plugs (67K miles - plugs were changed at 44K miles). It a 2014 with Comp Package, no mods except carbon filters delete and Bootmod3 Stage 1 93.
Car ran 11.40 ET @ 124.53 mph with the stock plugs last month. Stock plugs are fine until it misfires, then you replace them with a colder plug (NGK 97506). |

Just bang them on and worry after. Seriously though, apparently it's supposed to be worse until the ECU realises there is a problem then alters fueling, I.e. 100-200 miles Is a number I've seen. Or until its tuned for catless.

Second part is the lady friend wildly disagrees with the idea of removing the cats for the sake of saving the environment - to which part I somewhat agree. I feel a little bit selfish removing the cats just for some sound and HP gain. I know with the *blah blah blah you shouldn't drive a sports car and ride a bicycle*. I'm not against having fun but I read a study that 1 cat-less vehicle produces the same amount of hydrocarbon output as 600 catted vehicles... I thought about adding in 200 CEL cats in the midpipes to counteract this a bit but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't get hot enough to make any difference in filter, but may kill the smell. What to do.. |

They won't melt because they'll be further back in the exhaust... but at that far back they won't heat up enough to actually filter the exhaust..in which case you'd be pissing into the wind. I'd love to see someone try this and then try to do an emissions test and see how much it actually differs (maybe me...) |

Ohhh I also own a Supercharged E92 M3 it's also catless and my first one. My wife had a problem at first with it talking about the environment and the smell. This did not last long she forgot all about it after awhile and everything just goes on normal when ever she get in either catless car M3 or M5 so no worries. It also helps that she has her own car and don't have to always ride in mine .

I went with a step colder sparkplugs and gapped them at .020 and the car feels great with the Stage 2 mild burble tune.

You can just try running it and see if you get a misfire. My stage 1 OFT tune required colder spark plugs gapped to .020" although it was supposed to be okay with stock plugs.
