Question Should those of us picking up ED on 9/1 or 9/3 get together for a dinner in Munich

thoughts? too hard to organize or no? thinking 8/31 might be the best date as people will disperse once they get their cars.

Having dinner with fellow drivers also picking up their M5 in Munich would be great. I for one will be picking up mine September 3rd. In fact, some of us may be going the same route maybe not all the way, but I am sure some will. I am definitely taking some of the passes like Grossglockner, St. Gotthard, San Bernardino, Flüela, Munt La Schera, Unbrail, Stervio, etc. Then am planning to go to Provence, Southern France. So who knows, some of us may end up "riding shotgun" through the passes.

Let's see how many people react to this thread and we'll figure something out. My gf and I are planning to head through a pass or two but then hit Italy.

This sounds good. I plan on arriving to Munich on 9/2 morning before delivery on 9/3 am. Time to search for airfares / hotels / itinerary / etc..

Looks like there are 3 members getting deliveries on 9/3.

I am thinking of leaving NY evening of Aug. 31 arriving Munich morning of Sept. 1. Use the weekend to visit Munich & surrounding areas and the BMW museum. Per the info I read, the BMW museum is closed on Mondays. First thing to do tomorrow is put a vacation request for two weeks.

Sorry to butt in, but I'd love to do a story on the homepage featuring you guys taking delivery at the same time. That will be one epic M5 ED day

I am picking up on 9/1, probably getting into Munich on 8/31 so would be interested in getting together Friday night.

I can't answer for the others but for my part, I do not have any objections. Also, am planning to do a little video of the ED trip and probably post it in the forum.

I'm picking up September 1 as well and think it'd be a nice idea to meet up, coordinate something (at least a group pic in front of the beastS), or a story! How awesome is this that this is now becoming a reality after such a long wait? I know for a lot of folks this is their 2nd, 3rd or greater BMW or M car, but for me, this is my first and years of dreaming and hard working coming together to do something amazing for myself!

I feel like we'll make this happen either 8/31 or 9/1. Or perhaps there will be 2 groups (1 for 9/1 pickups on 8/31 and another for 9/3 pickups on 9/2).

I'm now thinking we can arrange a private group tour of BMW M Gmbh if we do it on a weekday, either 8/31 or 9/3.

Garage List
We are delivering on 9/3 but plan to be in Munich on 8/31 and would be interested in joining everyone for a tour or for dinner etc.

Great idea! Maybe they will be able to do one on 9/1 and make it a whole day private event for the 9/1 pickups (group tour and pick up together) since we have a lot of them. Anyone willing to inquire on behalf of the Bimmerpost group? Guess the same could be done for 9/3 pickups.

I'm guessing 9/1 won't be doable for a tour since it's a Saturday and that's a business office we're talking about. Would almost surely have to be either 8/31 or 9/3 or both.

Museum is closed on Mondays but open on weekends per the schedule:
http://www.bmw-welt.com/web_rb/bmw-w...mw_museum.html
So I think a group tour is in order.

Plant tours are closed on weekend per the schedule, so that can be done on Monday:
http://www.bmw-welt.com/web_rb/bmw-w...tory_tour.html

Welt tour does not specify being close at anyday so assume willl always be open:

I am not talking about a museum tour. I am talking about a tour of the offices and workshop of BMW M GmbH which has to be specially arranged and since it's an office I'm quite certain it's only doable on a M-F.
This is not something that's open to the general public.

Yes, my dealer said that I should get around a September 3rd Delivery date too. I would love to get together for dinner and stuff too. Imagine all of us showing up there and the Welt is just full of F10 M5's. It's gonna be M5 Heaven!!!!

What office are you speaking of? I posted the schedule of three different places -- the Museum, the Plant and Welt itself.

Yes and BMW M GmbH is not located at any of those places. You need to be approved for and schedule a private visit. Not easy to do, but with a group of us they may be willing to do it.

Like any company - they have a standard museum, and public plant tour and so on; but for those who know - there are other places to visit that they do not publicize.

Here's a link to the writeup of someone who was lucky enough to get in last year:

I see, that must be a great worthwhile tour. I only thought of the Plant tour. Anyway, I hope you guys get to arrange one. I have to make adjustments to my Munich pick up date and won't be able to make it anymore on the 3rd of September. I will have to settle for the first week of October instead. So anybody out there picking up their M5 around Oct. 2, 3, maybe we could arrange our own little dinner and send off party, he he.

I think there's a 'party' called Oktoberfest then... I went about 10 years ago - insanely good time.

Back on topic. In a month or so when people kind of know their plans I'll reach out to my dealer - who I think has a good rep with the ED office - and see if we can get a private tour together...
