Just got myself a 2013 F10 M5

Hey guys,

I'm quite an old member here but I have moved from the E9x M3 platform to the F10 M5 platform. I must say I'm pretty impressed with the overall experience. I still need to get used to that slight turbo lag, but that low RPM torque is sexy.

I managed to get a car that still has Warranty & Service Contract running till mid 2019! It's an Alpine White with Sakhir Orange interior. I was wondering if I can start doing anything to the car without getting my Warranty voided so throw me some ideas

Here are some pictures!

Congrats on your purchase. Nice looking car.

As for doing modifications, here in America I was told by SA any aftermarket parts will not be covered by BMW warranty. Any aftermarket parts that cause damage to any oem parts will not be covered. Unless you have a good relationship with your SA, you essentially you are taking a risk with aftermarket parts.

One thing you can do is get a piggy tune. It simple to install and to remove, and it’s not detectable by BMW to my knowledge. Few people sell them on this forum

She looks great I just picked up my F10 M5 on Friday as well and couldn't be happier. Truly an impressive car from M division! I've owned an e92 M3 as well in the past and the F10 M5 is far superior.

Nice! I love sakhir orange interior, have it on my m6. I would def suggest replacing that bulking steering wheel with an m performance or electronic m performance steering wheel, won't affect warranty and will transform your interior.

I've been hearing the term "piggy" a lot in the past few months. Can you please explain to me little more about it?

Yeah, my E92 was FBO pushing around 400 whp and was a stick. It was a great toy around the track. But as I've been doing long commutes so I decided to get something that has a better overall package.

Yeah that M-Performance Steering Wheel is definitely on my bucket list!

Can you explain a little about "bootmod3" What it is? and what it does?

CF goodies will come for sure. First mod will be the 2015 M-Performance Black/Black kidney grille

Congrats on the pick up! Alpine white always seems to work well on M5's. How many miles /km on it?

Any other opinions on the difference between the M3 and your new M5 as far as daily driving? No need to compare the power. We know that difference. :-)

It's a tuning platform. You load it to your DME's via the OBDII port and choose the tune you want. You load an OTS (off the shelf) map depending on your mods like downpipes. You can also get custom tunes from different tuners: DME, HCP, Cary Jordan, BPC...where they create a map based on your specific mods and fuel type.

Sorry to hijack the thread but how do these tuners do a custom
Tune to bootmod3 users without being there to tune the car

technician117 Thanks man

Yeah to be honest Alpine White isn't my favorite choice. I had already found an individual 1/1 Ferrari Red F10 M5 with Oyster/Piano Black Trim that had full catless Akra and CF goodies. It's only problem was that it was out of warranty and since I am new to this platform I want to be on the safe side until I master everything about the F1x platform. The white as you said isn't bad after all. It grows on you day by day.

My M3 was a proper beast shooting flames and all lol .... just like this

She was extremely nimble and agile. The perfect track tool. But my application was different, I drive long distances to my work (about 160km/100miles on a daily basis) so I need something that had a better overall package. The F10 has a very sexy low end torque which is unbeatable. The M3 had shear pure orgasmic power, but it was just not right for my application at the moment. I miss it... badly, but the F10 is a better car for me right now.

Is it a piggy-back ? Is it traceable by the agency?

If you are interested in ESS, I have a used unit that I’m selling for $400, OBO. Easy to install and it’s not that bad on HP.

Yeah of course I am, is it the same ESS E-tuner?
"S63TÜ E-tronic tuner 630 HP / 675 lb-ft tq"

I believe there were some recalls regarding battery drainage, did you get yours changed? Is it the latest model?

One and only. I’ll need to check which model I have. I never had issues with it, but then again, I only had this unit for a few months.
