Hi I'm new

Justed want to say hi to everyone. I'm new to the forum. I'm thinking about getting a 330i but I'm afraid of the problems that may arise with the car since this is the first generation. I also read about some probs that had occured with some of you that got your car already I'm more worry about probs happening after the warrenty is over then its gonna cost a lot to fix.....
But I want my 330i!!! I already know excately what I'm going to get. I cant wait another yr cause I think I'm deeply in with it!
I'm not the only girl on here am I? hehe

Thanks for all the great advices and pics all of you have been posting!

Hi Jess, I just joined recently too. Are you positive you'll be keeping yours until after the warranty expires? Even if so you can buy an aftermarket warranty if you're really scared of something going wrong. It might be too early to tell how the E90 holds up after a few years (after the warranty expires), but judging by the e46 3 series, it'll probably be very good.

What combination have you made up your mind on? Good to see girls are into nice performance oriented cars too

Hi Jess. Welcome to the forum! Hey, the problems reported here were only minor so far, and a lot seem to be rare and isolated...I really don't think you'd have much to worry about. Have you seen these posts yet? They may be helpful.

It's true sometimes you have more to worry about on a first year production of a new generation, but I have confidence in BMW. Just to be on the safe side, though, I did take an extended warranty for 6 years, even though my loan is only for 5. The factory 4-year was a little short. The 6 year warranty only cost $1186.00 extra, and only brought up the monthly payments by about $25.00. I think it's a small price to pay for piece of mind because BMW parts can be quite expensive. Good luck with your decision!

Welcome to the boards Jess. According to the latest JD Power surveys etc., it seems that BMW is doing quite well on initial quality studies and doing okay on long-term dependability studies as well.

There's always a risk with first year products but if you go in knowingly anyway, like most of us , then you should be prepared for it.

Hi Jess....welcome! A lot of the technology is carried over from other models...including the I-drive, navigation, adaptive xenons.......so it's not an "un-tested" vehicle. Don't let that stop you.

Hey Jess, I'm a girl too! I just got an 06 TiAg 330i last Sunday, and I absolutely love it. I was also concerned about first year bugs, but after falling in love with the car, I didn't care...you should go for it! You won't be disappointed...and being that the car is under warranty, if bugs do arise, they'll be fixed!!

Let's not forget that significant parts of the E90 suspension and drivetrain have been on sale in the 1 series in Europe for some time now.

That's a good point Armen. I assume the 1 series suspension and drivetrain has been problem free so far? I haven't had any problem so far with my 325, only thing was a slight rattle coming from the dash area that my dealer seems to have gotten rid of. I say go for it, life is too short to delay buying a car that you could get now on purpose cause you're afraid of *potential* first year bugs.

They are rare and isolated, because E90's are rare and isolated right now. We won't have a good idea of long-term dependability until we see some 2-year old E90's with 50,000+ miles on them.

The E46 had its share of issues, but some people (typically low-mileage drivers) report a trouble-free ownership experience. According to JD Powers, BMW is above average in reliability.

sharp - Is your extended warranty through BMW directly or a third party? What is covered?

Hey! All right! Glad to see you go for it! True, we won't be able to really know about the car's bugs for some time now, but you'll be ok, I think, even with just a factory 4 year warranty.

sawcat: The extended warranty is with Universal Underwritters Service Corporation "Complete Care" protection. The deductible is $0.00, term is 72 months, or 60,000 miles, and it's a comprehensive DC/C2 plan, whatever that means. I'm not sure if BMW financing offers an extended warranty, because my dealer really pushed BMW financing, so if they offered the extended warranty, I think they would have pushed for that. Maybe the extended warranty companies are different from dealer to dealer.

Thanks sharp - I'll give them a call. If my dealer offers anything comparable I'll post that info when I close on my 330i.
