Was I supposed to lose?

Ran into a Challenger Hellcat the other day in the freeway and played a bit. Unknown mods on it other than hearing the exhaust pop n crackle. Seriously thought I was going to lose but whoever was ahead maintained the lead and it was front bumper to rear door panel. Im all stock.

Took an exit and I shut it down. Guy proceeds to drive like a lunatic burning out, revving, etc
..when I had my old 550i with Stage 1, I used to take the 392s but got my butt handed to me by a Hellcat and never tried again.

M5s are indeed freeway missiles. The mid and top end on these cars are nuts..

Even a 458 struggles to get ahead,I know, I gave one a burn up from the lights he was next to me all the time up to 80 'till my radar box started blipping.

actually, in real world application; i.e. in mexico and not on a prepped track, from a dig, w/ sticky tires, it's a pretty even race. usually whomever get's the hit/kick wins.

"Was I supposed to lose" YES YOU WERE

You would typically lose unless they had their black 500 hp key in the ignition. Here is an example of a modified F10 M5 with a stage 2 tune and exhaust mods that pulls just one car from a third gear roll race.

For the past several years I have raced and watched a good number of stock Hellcats at the drag strip and they always have very high trap speeds since they have a huge amount of hp. I typically have trap speeds of 118-122 mph but on occasion could be up or down 2 mph. I had a stock 550M and it had trap speeds typically between 109-112 mph.

SUMMARY: If you are stock and a Hellcat is using their red key, unfortunately, you will lose.

A 550i is NOT an M5 and I owned a 550i pushing over 585 whp plus over 600 TQ setup with Stage 2 tune combined with JB4 and E30.

That's some tune but doubt it would beat standard 560 M5.

I think what I wrote is pretty self-explanatory to your commentary regarding getting "my butt handed to me by a Hellcat." Henced my response. English.

1. So what if my old 550i was tuned. Can a "STOCK" M5 F10 beat a stock Dodge Hellcat without a Tune and Mods? NO!

So they great equalizer was the TUNE Just as an M5 has to utilize a Tune too to beat the HellCat.

Supporting Evidence. My 550i beat a few stock M5's, so please research and understand the platforms before your pride gets ruffled. Humble thyself!

Example 1. 2011 550i beat Stock M5 F90 :-)
Video Please -->

That is my Tuner for my old 550i and friend. Enjoy the videos. We about that life fan boys. #Boost

hahahahahahaah,......never thought I'd see that on a M5 board. Maybe it's time to move on to another luxury sedan platform.
