iDrive Update
I'll soon be getting a 2013 M5 and I wanted to know if a dealer would be able to update to the latest version of iDrive which you'd find now in the 2015 M5.
Thanks |

There is the user updatable software for Bluetooth and MP3 devices. That is on the bmw website under owners. The general I level of the car, only a dealer or a person with an iCom device and a 1 day access to bmw techinfo can update. It can be done using e-Sys and an enet cable but that's more tricky. Ask the dealer for a print out from ISTAP, that takes 10 seconds and shows the current software level of the car.
The latest istep from ista/p is 2.51.3 which gives a car level of F010-13-11-504. Depending on where the car's software is at the moment, there may not be much to add. Some noticeable changes are GPS co-ordinates in the nav menu, slightly (very) brighter LEDs in B&O front door tweeters and Central dash speaker, when a menu item is on display, to signify there is more options available, the + sign has been changed to a cog symbol, for UK cars, the nav map has very slightly different menus and graphics. No doubt there is much more going on that is not obvious to the user. If the car is below 2.51.3 = f010-13-11-504 a couple of lines you can try to convince dealer to get off their arse - if the car has b&o the speaker illumination is too dim - there is a specific puma case for that. Or the old favourite, the sat nav keeps rebooting. |
