Grouper season opened today. Rough start considering 7-8’s in the Keys til Friday.

Will try to get out there next week.

I got my first legal 'but yesterday just off the Ventura coastline (I'm on call). We also landed a leopard, 2 crabs, a ray, several grumpies, and a few calico. Not bad for getting the text at 1 in the p.m.

We seemed to just catch the tide change in the kelp perfect.

Captains are calling in great numbers of color, yft, and bft down south. Not much biters yet but they have been seeing decent schools. Should be a good year.

Water is getting warmer off SoCal. Fishing is starting to pick up. Just wish the wind would move on...

We had gale force warnings up here for the weekend, then high surf warnings because of a big south swell. Was hoping that swell would push up some warm water though

Went out yesterday morning. On call is cutting into my fishing time. We ran up to Arco Island since the wind made everything inside so choppy. Bunch of Calicos/sandies, one big ray, and my brother caught this perch we couldn't identify. Biggest perch I've ever seen, and it had some gnarly teeth! As I'm trying to pull the hook it keeps closing its mouth and the teeth just crunch. It might have been a blacksmith???

Friday my brother was out at yellowbanks and caught 4 YT and a bunch of calicos

Buddy just returned and it is wide open school tuna. That can be caught in a half day. I have caught plenty of marlin on a half day as well.

check out bloody decks for charter recomendations.

what month are you going?

Do people tend to travel to Cabo with their gears or those half day open party boats have decent ones for rental?
