The warm water definitely heats up the action lately. Big Calicos, Barracuda, and even decent size yellows were caught the last few days off Palo Verdes water.

I use this all the time with my wife. "You wear different shoes for certain outfits right? Well I have a different rod for a certain lure." Also use a similar excuse for lures - think of the lures like all your different types of make-up.

Went for a twilight last night with my brother and cousin who came into town. One small cabezon even though the water was 70-71. Really turned into more of a knot-tying booze-cruise.
But I did talk about the above "shoes" and "jewelry" |

Went with my brother, Ron Zacapa, and Capn Morgan out to Santa Cruz on Thursday. 70+ water, bright blue all around the island, barely any wind/waves. 3rd cast at a little wall on the east side landed the first of several calicos. Moved over to Yellow banks and hit some more calicos, got my first sheepshead, and a bunch of whitefish. Then we moved to a corner where the current was ripping, and we landed a bunch of barracuda, bonitas, and one keeper YT. It was a good birthday!

Went out with a group of friends on a private boat to San Clemente Island. Fished in one their favorite spots for sheepheads and calicos. 6 legal sheepheads and 1 calico. Released a bunch of 13'' calicos and it was frustrating! Went out to the Desperation Reef looking for some tunas but no bitters at all for 3 hrs. Read some reports on SCI with people catching bunch of lingcods over the weekend. |

After 12 hours and 105 miles of chasing striped marlin around the Channel Islands. Who cares if we only saw one, it was a BEAUTIFUL day on the water.

Word is that they are up there now. Most OC boats heading your way these days. Wish they were back at the slide.

Went out last weekend to SCI looking for tuna around Desparation Reef during the sunset hours. No bite at all.
But I caught a skipjack in the 209 earlier in the day looking for Dorados. No dodo. Saw some 6-packs catching insane amount of dodos last weekend though. Any tips for tuna hunting around SCI? I feel like we have been going to the wrong places there. |

Quick trip to the reefs today. Caught about 30 but kept 18 snapper. Brought 2/4 nice sized barracuda to the boat which are always a fun fight.
