Molygen New Generation 5W-40 in Australia?
Does anyone from Australia use this oil and can get it at a decent price, if so where?
Liqui Moly doesnt supply Molygen to Australia and likely wont so the only option I can see is to buy online. The shipping and tax costs are over $100 alone making this a rip off. Anyone in the same boat find a reasonable solution? Thank you, |

It appears this Oil is Synthetic Based not Full Synthetic. I note you have raised oil burn in another part of this forum . I only use Full Synthetic Oil and our engines need this sort of protection . Have a look at the Audi Forum discussion board with regard to this oil : https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...-Molygen-5w-40 Cheers Bruce |

Interesting (and happy to be corrected) because the product data sheet does not say this : https://pim.liqui-moly.de/pidoc/P001...40-31.0-en.pdf Liqui-Moly make fine products but it’s not available in Australia. Our engines generate lots of heat because of the “hot vee” design and I use Mobil 1 0W-40 because of the high TBN (Total Base Number) . It holds approvals for Porsche/Mercedes AMG/Bmw . I have used this oil on all of my turbocharged engines since 2010 with great success . Most important is that this oil flows very well when cold and hot ; and thus protects the engine (hence the 0w and 40w part of the oil viscosity). Ps : have you checked the recall status on your car from Bmw Australia: #1 :Cooling Protector Mats for the Turbocharger Cooling Lines #2 : Drivers TAKATA Airbag All of this is covered by BMW Australia Cheers Bruce |

I thought you might say Mobil 1 0W-40. I think ill be using that too.
I have checked air bags and all good but not sure about the Turbocharger Cooling Lines defect. It was purchased from West Cost BMW where I service it so would think that all would have been checked but I will follow up. |

I did my first oil change on the m5 over the weekend. Used some mobile 04w-40 and car felt good. It cost about $100 Australian which is slightly less then some molygen delivered to Aus from ECS tuning so it still might be worth it. |
