Cigarette lighter still on after I turn off the car

Hey!

"Santa" got me a radar detector and it's awesome but running into one issue. When I turn the car off (fully off); the radar is still getting power from the cigarette lighter by the cup holders. I'm just worried this is going to drain the battery if left on

I may be wrong but it think it shuts off the power supply after a short period of time after locking car, some one may come along and back this up.

I recommend hard-wiring the detector to mirror for a much cleaner solution. See below link for an example

This is the way to go IMHO. Easy DIY as well.

No one really addressed his concern. OP, it is normal for accessory power to be on for a short period after you turn off the engine. You're fine leaving it plugged in.

mines has the same exact thing ... after i shut off the car my V1 is still on. . .

I got mine hardwired to the fuse box under the glove box
