Stage 1 and 2 Turbos Combined

So, I’m not that mechanically inclined when it comes to certain things. Thus, I want to solicit opinions from experts. Would it be possible to combine pure turbos stage 1 and 2 on these cars? Has anyone ever done this mod, or even attempted before? I do believe older Audi cars had small and big turbos. Please share your opinions.

I was under the impression each turbo is for 1 side of the engine on the M5’s. Putting a small turbo on one side and a large turbo on the other wouldn’t be wise, if that is indeed the case. I don’t believe the turbos are connected in any way to each other. Though, even if you did manage to connect them or they are already connected downline, it still wouldn’t make much of a difference since you would be relying on a single turbo to pick up the pace up top. That’s my opinion on that. I’d just keep them both the same.

These are not sequential so unless you plan to fit four turbos the idea won’t work. The Pure S2’s have boost spool response similar to stock so don’t see the point in even attempting this.

Might as well add a couple of extra axle's, and differentials... if only ppl put in as much effort into fine tuning the rest of the platform to help synchronize the batshit crazy power delivery with driva(relia)bility.

There is virtually no lag anyway. Floor it in 2nd at 2000rpm and by 2500rpm (with my shitty PZeros) I'm sideways.

It you had GTX3071R turbos or GTX3582Rs and spooled at 4krpm that is a bit different but then you're making 1000hp and that isn't really a street car.

You'd need to do something like the below and frankly nobody in the aftermarket will be able to achieve this for you.

A pair of stock turbos and a GTX4508R would be a worthwhile setup but you'd need a hood bulge about 300mm high to fit it in I reckon.

Next question is, will this engine support VNT/VGT?

I recall on the first variable turbo cars from Porsche which was the 997 Turbo they had no wastegates and only used the vanes to control boost. I guess you could use our cars standard wastegate control system to adjust the vanes on the turbos.

You'd want turbos from the 991 GT2 RS as they are the only cars to make a reasonable bit more power than our cars and have larger turbos than the other cars. Good luck finding them though

Believe me I do. This was my curiosity to see if it’s possible to engineer such a
setup on this car.

I also wonder why BMW hasn’t adapted VNT like Porsche
