How to gut the downpipes
whats up fellas
I have a pair of stock downpipes from my old m5 and I am thinking of gutting them instead of paying for another catless pair. How much should I pay to have them gutted and how is the process? thx guys |

I went to home depot and bought a spade drill bit and drilled them out myself in about 5 mins for each. Wear a mask and eye protection for the dust but otherwise super easy. The drill bit will go right through the cat material, there is some fiberglass and steel wool/braid inside as well but all come out super easy. Once you start drilling it will break into larger chunks just start pulling them out as you go. Don't need to make it all dust to get it out.

I just used a hammer and big screw driver took no time at all. Was a shame to throw it all away but in the uk it's really difficult to recycle anything like that after Gypsies steal metal and cut cats off cars.
With the smell I've got the cats back on the car at the moment and when the warranty runs out I'm just going to cut the primary cats so I'll still have the 400 cell as it does stink a fair bit running catless |
