The problem with M5 is not that it is slower then the other two. Those numbers for 0-60 mph might be manufacture estimates. Because the article clearly states that M5 is faster then both the other cars and it will out run them both to triple digit speeds.
So speed and acceleration is not in question. Nor the fact that M5 is great handling. The down side of M5 is that it is heavier and not as agile nor fun.

Why is anyone surprised about this result? The 5 series has been getting bad review about it being soft and heavy from several magazines. The 535i lost to the Audi A6 3.0T and the Infiniti M37 in C&D a while back.
The truth is, BMW chose to make the 5 series chassis more luxurious at the cost of performance. Because of that, it will probably sell more F10 than any other 5 series from the past. |

The MCT wet clutch thing is a marvel of engineering. The shifts even at WOT are extremely smooth and quick while feeling solid and firm. I can only imagine how 5.5TT feels with more power and torque... The power numbers are pretty amazing...4.4TT vs 5.5TT, yet the BMW has 552hp...Just wait till the tuners get a hold of these engines....GAME OVER |

Anyway, a Panamera won't get my vote when it comes to looks and stuff. So a bit biased: even if the Turbo S would do a NS lap in 7:45, I 'd still choose the M5. |

There may be some instances of this, however history has shown us that the M cars perform very well against direct competition. The law of probabilities are in effect here. |

The conclusion was the M5 was faster, more luxurious and refined. That is exactly what I want for a sports luxury sedan. Not go kart thrills. I am a buyer of these cars not a wannabe magazine reader or automotive journo whose personal car is a fiat punto.
In the sports lux sedan segment the M5 is king.
