Advevo, tell us, as a pro. race driver how would you evaluate the M5 in general? Do you agree with my previous comment that the 1M could be even closer to M5 if it would be carrying the same tires?
By the way, we miss your videos! |

Claudia Hurtgen is a race car driver she drove the M5 only the rest were driven by automotive writers. Her talent has to be worth a couple of tenths at the very least. What do you think?

Having an M "soul" is something completely different than being the fastest car. M's have never been the fastest cars. A corvette is faster than probably all of these around a track, atleast the z06 for sure. Would you say that has the same feel, tradition and soul as the traditional M cars?
Not saying any car here does not have the "soul" but fastest does not always translate into what is most enjoyable. And the guy that is questioning buying an m3 over a 1m because of 3/10ths of a second on a random track?? Seriously that is stupid to choose a car on track times in general but REALLY stupid to choose one car over another because of 3/10s of a second. Choose the one you liked and who cares what its time is. Questforpower doesn't even own an M, bashes the M3 and yet chimes in on every M thread! Talk about a wannabe. Your modded 335 does not deserve the mention in a thread about these fine M's. The only true surprise is the e60 M5. It is so much faster in a straight line, much much lighter (like 1500 pounds). Really shocked. I would have liked to see an M6 (old gen) thrown in the mix. |

1M is pretty impressive
Neat comparison between all the models, disappointed that the E60 is the slowest out of them all S85 is still a sexy engine nonetheless

I second this! And as some of you know, I've owned a string of M cars over the last 11years!

All of the cars are impressive, but I never bought an ///M on numbers, so whether or not I buy a car has NOTHING to do with its numbers.....it is all about the feel and enjoyment of the car, not to mention the balance. But again, how do you go wrong with ANY of the ///Ms mentioned here?.....you can't Cheers, e46e92

I am new to M ownership, but this just once again proves why I made the right choice ditching GM products and moving 'up', just look at what is on offer in the M stables, and hell I would like to get my hands on the new M5, looks and performs spot on in my opinion, would make the perfect companion to my 1M in my garage

Here's a straight line video of a e60 M5 Touring beating a X5 M but who knows, maybe the X5/6Ms are better around corners than the e60? |

On a track that averages about a minute 40, with human drivers, the margin of error has to be at least half a second?
