I agree with itsnumptyboy. When driving this fast, you are responsible! not the one getting on to the highway. In the slower car there is no way you can timely see the car approach at 300 km/h. If you don't believe this then watch this videoclip.

This crash seems to be picking up steam - I saw it on the front page of Fox News:

As my family over there say "Man hat nur ein autounfall" which more or less means "you only have one accident". 300 kph on any public road is taking a risk, but pretty amazing that he even survived. We see plenty of patients s/p rollovers at even 35-50 mph and they have significant traumatic injuries. Thoughts and prayers to his family, particularly his sons.

This accident speaks very highly for the rollover protection of the 5 series.
Just the other day a Lexus rolled over here...going 100 mph less than this BMW and the roof was flat w/ the beltline of the car. Well done BMW. Hope everyone in the wreck comes out w/o life long injuries. |

The article said that they belonged to the sons of the father who was driving the F10. I doubt they were racing considering it was on the autobahn and people driving that fast is a normality. But you never know...

Ya...another failed top speed attempted. Luckily, they didn't kill anyone else on the road. If this top speed run was accomplished then there will also be a proud front page video link on this forum with lots of mods and members supporting it.
I wish this forum is not supporting those public road top speed runs and street racing scenes...but oh well...the mods and forum members love and encourage people to do so. Sad shit I would say. At the end...poor dog. |

Firstly, the speed differential between 95mph and whatever Vehicle 2 was travelling at. Secondly, that even people driving at modest speeds on the Autobahn can be tools: why is this idiot attempting to control a car and a video device at the same time???!!!! |

I use the evidence of using a hand held recording device whilst driving (period) as unsafe. Just imagine if this guy had slithered half a metre to the left whilst focusing on filming his mirror......... |

This was filmed during an event under supervision of the German Autobahn police. The other cars belonged to the group, but the Corvette was driving 320 km/h. I just wanted to put the speed difference into perspective.

I second all of the wishes for a safe and speedy recovery for the occupants (I am not without human substance or compassion!!), but I don't hold sympathy.......with the exception of the dog, they were willing participants in an act of wanton stupidity. |

Flash237 (post 11) and YolkyPalky (32) both seriously made me LOL. I haven't had that happen off the internet in a while.

While unfortunate, an accident like this is a real-life-crash-test laboratory. This is a unique opportunity for BMW to evaluate what is working and not-working as far as vehicle safety is concerned. BMW should have engineers on site and, when all police/insurance paperwork is taken care of, find a way to recover this car and study it to make future BMWs better and safer.
