We already know that in a roll race from 70-155 mph we are king. The F10 M5 is just insane in that department. Only car that took my M5 was a 700 rwhp 02 Camaro.
M3 won't touch this car. |

^yup I knew instantly maybe if you gramps mode it and only stop light to 60 you'd be super impressed with the m4s speed but anything above 70 you'd be like oops where'd my m5/m6 go lol

M5/M6 is amazing. If BMW put that engine/tranny in a lightweight 2 seater things would be more insane.

It's the 0-60 or maybe 0-100 that counts, I'd say even 100 is a stretch. 99.9% of us will enjoy this car in daily driving situations within speed limits. I don't mean below 65 mph, I mean possibly below 100. We are not going to drive at 130. I had my M5 for about 3000 miles, and while I did enjoy that amazing power, I'd rather have something that is more usable, that I can easily maneuver in daily driving and I can "safely" enjoy. My biggest gripe with the M5 was its lack of communication. I was warned about this, people told me that "you'll get in trouble if you try to drive that car to enjoy it" and they were right. I can switch gears at 2500 rpm on my M3 and the same amount of seratonin in my brain would require maybe 4500-5000 rpm in the M5. It just didn't feel like it was going fast. I know it was, speedometer was saying otherwise. This is like comparing a 747 to the M3. Who cares which one is faster? The question is, which one is more fun? Which one is more practical? Which one can handle the actual daily driving better? The traffic, the parking in a city like Manhattan or London, pot holes, I mean you name it. M5 is a very very exclusive car, but with that exclusivity comes impracticality. Every time I parked that car, every time I drove in NYC, I would sweat like a pig and get all stressed out. Now I feel like I'm home in my M3. The first time I sat on it and drove out of the dealership I was like "heck yeah!". I don't need to worry about "is it going to fit there". If anyone is in east coast NY/NJ/MA/PHI area, I am happy to meet and do a comparison. We all know M3 will pull ahead all the way to 80-90, but after that M5 will take over and probably put 2-3 car lengths on the M3. So I don't know what we are comparing. |

There is no point of racing an M3 against an M5 in a straight line. There is also no point of putting them in a track and timing their lap. We all know the outcomes to both. I think we all know the strengths and weaknesses of both cars. |

Dude, now I understand why @RPiM5 loves you. I think we all must love you cuz you are lovely guy (take it as compliment)... I don't have time to collect all your related posts all over the place, but whenever somebody says something about precedence of M5 you say "who cares? " who cares about 155, who cares about 1/4 mile, who cares about 0-100.... who cares about soft close, who cares about "fat sofa look seat ". who cares about manual steering adjustment,.. etc. but seriously if this is the way you think, why M3??? you can get a base M235!!! it's fun to drive, it's not too much slower than M3, it's much cheaper, much better mpg and it does not have ///M logo on seats to make noise Quote:

LOL I figured you would retort to his delusional rants about his new best purchase. Yeah who is "We" Nullcheck? LOL- 0-80 would be a close race IMHO with the M5 winning. Look at the rpm hp curves of the car- once its rolling it will pull and it doesn't need to get past 80 to pass your M3. Oh 60-130 is a far more important factor for me than 0-60. How often do you get to lineup with another car at stop and have a clear path ahead? Rolling pulls are the better measurement for real world. Nullcheck I'm so glad you told us why you really got the M3: parking capabilities!! LOL.

There is a close relationship between "amount of seratonin" and "active sound / wind noise"

This shit is hilarious . They always go back to lap times when they can't even handle a car in a straight line lol , then when that goes bad 0-60 then when that doesn't pan out it's the fat couch seats . The funny thing is I'm certain I could put down a better lap time in my CP M6 than an M4 on 90% of major tracks . I can't speak to an M5 but my CP M6 even bone stock was a shit ton more exciting down low than the M4 . I really tried to like it .

Nullcheck you're a funny guy. Why do you spend so much time on this forum? It should actually be a case study. You don't own an M5 and it seems you're only purpose here is to trash the car to current owners. Not a great way to make friends in my opinion but to each their own. You're quickly becoming the quintessential **** for this forum, every forum has one and they're oh so entertaining.

Not everyone lives in Noo Yark City where spitting on the sidewalk is illegal along with 32oz soft drinks. Some of us live in states where 130 is easy to attain with no one at risk and no cops around for miles.
I sat in the new M3 on Thursday when I was getting my rear tires replaced. What I noticed first is that it's small. I am 6'4" and the seat did move back but it's stiff and fairly hard and there is no height adjustment for the headrest. The car itself is just not very big, it isn't even as big as my E60 was and that was slightly tight but still fit me. The interior is not that of a luxury car and not up to par with a new 911. I wouldn't bother asking for a test drive as I would not buy one, it's a cheap plastic toy (think toy pistol vs. the real thing) by comparison to the real thing on the higher end of the BMW automotive line. Not that it's not a good car for the money because it probably is as it's a BMW but the sticker was $79k, that is still $40k less than a decently equipped M5. The M5 is a real luxury automobile with fantastic performance to boot. That is what I bought. Guys promoting small sports cars should stick with those forums. The M3 has nice lines but it's a small car and it's definitely not a luxury car at all. The M5 is a deluxe, high performance automobile with great engineering and nice lines. By comparison I did accept a test drive of the 2014 M6 GC with CP they had out there the previous time my car was in the shop. That is a comparable car to the M5 and one I considered trading for. Oh yes, the proper spelling is serotonin but that is't what get's released when one races their car, that is more likely to be dopamine. Last edited by wrsbmw; 07-05-2014 at 06:17 PM.. |
