Also, for some reason I feel like the interior of the LaFerrari is far nicer than the interior of the P1. The P1 interior seems so minimalist. But the exterior of the P1 wins for me. I've yet to see either in the flesh. Hopefully one day. Have fun with the 650S!
I think that very lightly used 2012 12Cs can be purchased for very close to $150K right now. It's incredibly tempting to be honest. A new GT3 or used 12C? The 12C would be a better DD and a better track car. Wish I wanted to spend that much money on a car right now. Guess I'll stick with my plan to get a new Z06. lol

Depends on your definition of slightly, but with a little north of 150k, you can get a 8-20k mile 12-C. I doubt any of those miles were soft, but as you mention, the 12-C can handle a lot more daily miles than its cohorts. The Gallardo, for example, was previously regarded as a daily car even though the e-gear transmission usually needs replacing around 20-25k miles....

The 12-C is tempting indeed, and dare I say the best 'exotic' value on the market by far...

The 12C seems like one of the more affordable supercar exotics on the market right now. Yeah I've seen 12C's with about 18k miles goin for about $160k right now. I figure a couple or few more years maybe the 2012 12C values will be down around $140k.

So if that's the case, it's more logical to get used 12C instead of new M5/M6 since looks like these new cars have a lot more depreciation (~50%) in 3 years!

A few more months, is perhaps what I think you meant... Give it until spring lol.

Seriously, the prices on these things are dropping faster than Enron's did. The (few) guys on the McLaren boards swear that prices are stabilizing, but I certainly am not seeing that. Maybe that's wishful thinking for people that bought new 12-C's at retail prices. Vic had the opportunity to get a barely used 2014 for around 207k - that's about a 100k markdown, in a year! Like in stocks, I'm not going to catch a falling knife, but I'll pay close attention to where prices bottom.

Unequivocally, there is not a better 'exotic' value, not even close. The GT-R, 911 TTS, SLS AMG GT (not the black series), R8, Corvettes, etc. are not exotics IMO. I consider the aforementioned models (quasi) supercars, but not exotics...

Some fuel for the discussion- now I cant tell what the condition is from these deals but you will get an idea of pricing. Just for you that don't know how MMR works, you will never see a lower price get an "average or above" and you will never see a higher price get a "below". Its basically just their labeling and the prices all depend on the demand, who is bidding along with who knows the auctioneer at the time of sales. No "average" will ever be a "below" even if that exact car was indeed in a worse condition than a "below" seller. These are pre recon, transport, fees, etc sales.

Anyways the MP4-12C is a bargain for those in the mid 150's (2012's) and I added in the 2014 spiders:

I have had a lot of discussions with several dealers about this. Of course there is incentive to move the new 12Cs at dealers right now so it is driving down prices in the used market. It just is much more attractive to finance or lease a new vehicle. There are maybe 30 left at dealers now in new inventory. As those clear out they expect the prices to hold very firm and perhaps even see a slight bump upward. Now is probably the best time to buy.

The 12C is one great car. Until you drive one it is hard to even grasp. It is like a little F1 car racing through the streets. It is fast, light and nimble and it gets tons of attention. And it sounds really really good. The experience is very visceral. You can't really even draw comparisons between a 12C and an M5. It is a different altitude. And before anyone comments-yes, it is wholly impractical. No room to even store sunglasses. That is not the point of the car. It is meant to DRIVE. You can, however, daily drive the car in comfort. Then you just turn the aero and performance switches and she comes alive! In my opinion, the MAC is the best car built right now, excluding hypercars such as the LaFerrari, 918 and P1.

The 650 is the12C with a crazy linear torque range, even more precise steering, smoother and faster shifting and pretty well perfected suspension. Truly an amazing piece of automotive engineering.

Laughing right now as I write this. My buddy Tim just texted me a post from McLaren life. A guy saying his friend owns 2 Bugattis and 5 Lambos and just got his 650S. No longer wants to drive the others.

McLaren truly is that exciting. If you are at all entertaining thoughts of buying a car in the range of a 12C be sure to drive one.

Btw...the 2013 and up is the way to go according to the local dealer. Many upgrades were retrofitted to the 2012 but things like the gearbox and other hardware updates were not.

If you are looking at a 2104 just trust me and step right up to the 650S.

Congrats... I've driven the 650s multiple times and honestly couldn't tell much of a difference outside of brakes. I've also raced my buddies 650s and I'm always within a 1/2 car length.

P1 for me next.. 12c is a keeper

Honestly, I felt exactly the same way after a couple of test drives but as you drive it more you feel those things that I mentioned above more and more.

I love Fed-Ex guy!

Drive one Bish. I have 2 GT3 allocations at the moment. Prob. going to cancel. McLaren is the most fun car on the road. Easy to DD.

So, we're not doing the Porsche thing anymore?

I didn't even know we had a Mclaren dealer down here. Good thing I saw this thread before my TTS showed up!

Mike, I tracked the 12C yesterday. It doesn't love high heat, but lapped everything out there, including two 991 GT3s.

I also drove the Huracan on track. I have to say, I was very impressed. Comfortable and yet still emotive and very very fast. I think you should explore that as your next sunk cost

Oh, and the aventador is a fat pig. A beautiful, fast, fat pig.

I still have it. I'm all into the track thing now, going back to Road Atlanta next weekend. You gave to get your GT3 out there to run against Cold's 650!

It's important to recognize that whether we lap or get lapped on tracks does not necessary reflect the actual performance of the cars. It could be due to varying driving skills or intent of the drivers. There is probably not much separating a 12C from a 991 GT3 if both driven well. The only time the 12C is much quicker is on a high speed circuit.

Bimmer6 will never have a turbo. The rush is too unsettling for his always perfect hair and pressed suit.
