I had the wine below at a restaurant last night. It was delicious. Googled it today and the reviews are okay. That begs the question: how come some wine just taste so good at restaurants or wineries even though online reviews are so so? Things are very subjective, but I’m curious to learn whether there are other reasons.

At dinner now while the Caymus decants. Sharing this “the immigrant” from Donati. I’m going to give it a solid meh…

Wait...What? You're drinking wine while your wine decants. LOL! My hero!

Quite possibly the smoothest wine I've ever had. Almost too smooth. I typically like blends but I'm on the fence about this one. It was good enough that I'd want to drink it again, just not sure I'd want to pay for it again.

Catching up for a few days here. I have the Soaring Wines Petite Sirah opened for later. This was one that we purchased at a wine festival a couple weeks ago.

I'll toss in what we're doing here this evening. It's a Domaine Drouhin Pinot Noir from Oregon that will go with a piece of (farmed) Kvarøy Arctic salmon baked with tarragon and garlic.

Been doing a glass of red for my heart for about 15 years now; still don't like it. I've had Bogle, Ménage a Trois, and a few others I don't remember the names. I've had cabs, chianti, syrah and red blends, I still don't like it. To quote a Big Bang Theory character, oh goody, grape juice that burns.

So, not drinking tonight, and may just quit altogether. Have tried different meds, even one that's designed to be taken during a high BP episode, nothing stops that banging in my chest and head. It's scary and only happens when I drink. I'm a senior and it may just be that I can't drink anymore. |

Cracked this open and decanting it while waiting for people to arrive for dinner. This should be consumed now according to friend whose family owns the vineyard.

The benefit (from red wine) supposedly comes from resveratrol in the grapes and that can be had through other foods (grapes, cherries etc) but the research is far from clear that resveratrol has any real benefit.
Some studies point to the alcohol and obviously that can be in other drinks beside red wine. https://ifh.rutgers.edu/highlight/mo...rench-paradox/

Nice! I have a Delectus French Wedding (?) that I’m aging. Got it as bday gift few years back when we went with a big group to Napa. It’s a great place!
