7th on the dealer's M5 allocation list (US) - good or bad
Spoke to a local dealer and they are asking me to put a refundable 2k down to be 7th on their list to order the m5. Of course they have no idea how many they will get but they are "claiming" that they are one ofmthe bigger M dealers in the country, not sure if i believe that but any1 with exp that has done this before or maybe the canada folks, any idea hiw good/bad that is or if the wait would be too long

Hmmm. Let me guess the dealer. Does it start with an "H"? Are they out in the middle of Long Island?
I'm #5 on the dealer allocation spot. They told me that I should have a car by the end of August, but that there were no guarantees. I went ahead and put my money down (though I only gave $1500). I want an M5 and this seems the only way to get in line for it. |

A couple of dealers have told me that they don't expect more than 1 or 2 (at most) per month and even that is unlikely until next year. The ordering wait (and having to wait for the options list) is really sucking right now since I started with my deposit early last year.
I've put a deposit down for a #1 ED allocation with 1 dealer and we've already negotiated the price a few weeks ago (not exact numbers, but based on a fixed uplift that the dealer wanted). I'll post more info on that once my order is actually in and it's confirmed. |

Take it with a grain of salt, but my dealer claimed that they would be getting approximately 10 M5s due to their special status as an M dealer.
I didn't really believe it, but I had to get on the list somewhere so might as well go there. |

Start calling small towns like the dealer in Tucson, AZ. I was number one and took myself off the list when I brought a new 750I... There was only one other person that is waiting....

Thanks for the help. Ive called around quite a few and seems like i found one without any order list so looks like ill be #1. Decent size dealership and told them i rather come in person and get something in writing that ill be #1 and will sell at msrp.
Kind of funny seeing the dealers fight for the my business and them not knowing how many they will get |
