Body Roll...
As I've gotten to know my 2013 M5 over the last few months, I find the suspension even in Sport Plus gives a bit more body roll that I would like. I remember in my E92 M3, when you went to the firmest setting, it had barely any roll -- cornered flat. I honestly can't tell a huge difference between the three settings.
What is adjusted when you make setting changes? Should it be firmer with less roll or does it just change the rebound rate for handling bumps in the road? If there was a problem with the system, is it smart enough to know or throw some error code? |

Does anyone besides Dinan make sway bars? A quick google didn't yield much. Also still curious what changes when I adjust EDC and why I can't feel the difference like I did with my older E92 that had EDC...
Can I add the comp package bmw sway bars? Are they that different than the non comp package? |

I personally do feel a difference between all three, the car becomes stiffer with each, I feel more road changes in sport plus and less body movement. I still felt like going into turns I still had too much body roll. This is a heavy car so it's expected to feel heavy into the turns compared to lighter BMW models. I changed to DINAN suspension and sways and eliminated the issue for the most part Here is a great write up as well as video on EDC http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=759602

Yeh. I don't feel the difference and I've been able to feel the difference in other cars with EDC or similar electronic suspensions. So the question now is how do I know if it's working or faulty?

Take it to the dealer and have them run diagnostics.

Keep scratching then. The car has adjustable suspension and I can't feel the difference between EDC settings. I didn't have an issue with the magnetic ride control in my Vette or the EDC in my E92 when it came to feeling the difference. I get this is a 4200+lb sedan but that doesn't change the fact that I haven't been able to tell the difference and want to know if it's just me or if everyone else feels the same so I have somewhat of a subjective benchmark to compare it to.

You should feel a noticeable difference between efficient and sport plus, maybe not significant, but noticeable. If you feel zero effects, then maybe dealer time.
I've read there's not much difference if at all between the comp vs non-comp sway bars. |

I had Dinan suspension so I went with the lease stiff setting. If you don't have aftermarket suspension, you can go middle to stiff without compromise. On the stiffest setting with suspension the axels no longer felt independent and didn't flex much. If one side hit a bump I felt it on the other side of that makes sense.

My goal with the Dinan sway bars is to simply reduce the roll when cornering. Even though this car is a heavy machine, I was surprised how much roll there was when I picked it up 8 months ago. I was coming from an E60 550 and just expected more out of the stock F10 M5 set up. I don't mind the stock suspension, which I'm currently on, however my goal is to lower the car in order to reduce the wheel arches. It's more for aesthetics than ride. I don't want to lose the EDC functionality so will be going with KW HAS as so many others on this forum have suggested. Some others have suggested "firm on the front and soft on the rear" for the Dinan sways in order to have a balance of better cornering without giving up traction. Some have suggested setting up stiff in the rear sway can promote oversteer. If you have an opinion or experience with this suggestion, I would appreciate your comments. Thanks, Barry |

As for settings, it honestly comes down to what you're looking for and everyone will feel differently about the stiffness based on their driving habits and experience. On the rears, you definitely don't want to go with the inner hole which is the stiffest. You'll find the rear will slide around too easily as it's too stiff. That's what i was trying to explain as originally i went inner holes and it was very stiff. If anything, I'd set the rear to either outer setting which is the softest. I personally went outer. Car felt more natural. Some say you can get away with middle but they had stock suspension. On the fronts, you could go stiff but I personally went with outer as my suspension was pretty stiff already and was too aggressive for me. The best approach is trial and error. Start softest first on all 4. Then move fronts to middle if not to your liking to stiff if needed.
