Buying a used M5 (or any high powered car for that matter) is a risk, as you dont know how former owners treated the car, even if the car has a full service record.

I'm going to enjoy the car, and follow the two most important advices i have read in all of the threads covering rod bearing failures, and mentioned above by technician117, do regular oil-changes and let the car warm up before going nuts.
Also I would highly recommend warrenty. I spent last 2 months reserching this car. You need good warrenty all time you own it. Unless you can fix it on ur own.

no one knows how extensive these issues are, or if they can be avoided by extra care and maintenance. Yet.

about 5 years ago some heavily sold reasonably priced 3rd party insurance was cancelled due to increasing claim rate for e60 m5 many discussions on m5board.

Bottom line, no matter how great the f10 m5 is to drive one needs to know that there may be no one to save your ass when faced with a $40,000 bill.

Pay to play squared.

To me the risk (Spending $$$ with Troy) would be worth the reward (low priced f10 m5)

based on current odds i would happily roll the dice.

But if i had to pay it would also not break me.

Some just should not buy a hot V BMW unless they have the finances to deal with the yet unknown level of potential risk

I have a 1 year dealer warranty, but it covers up to like $4k. And a new S63 is $35k right now 😄
