I will start Darton sleeves really good company I checked. Many times and removed Engine 3 times .good to know that and for who interested too They know specs and martial well Bpc.co They dont know what they fid for specs When I bought parts( sleeves, pistons , rods , rings) I found rods not compatible for my engine For s63 Engine we have till 2011 and from 2012-2016 What is the different? Tang for cap bearing and rods too Different styles I asked bpc They replied me We have no idea . Its not our issue. !!!!! and we will refund you 350$ Funny company from 10500 $ they want to refund 350$ : and till now no reply no refund no fear I will try to return parts and try to take my money , but i think they will refused , and they will blame me , and cp carrillo as they said , thats my right Ok I contact cp carrillo they said we didn't made rods after 2011 What ever please send us rods and we can fix it I sent finally received rods With same issue They open notch from one side not both I told them why one side only They said sorry You have 3 options 1- buy rod bearing before 2011 2- send us rods again 3- remove notch from bearing I said how come 1- My bearing new 2- Rods to send and received take looooooong time 3- if i removed notch from bearing thats safe ? They said yes we made a lot with no issues My fault I removed notch as they said What ever Happened what happened Total seal rings Good company Professional But do you know why Engine after rebuild with a lot of issues and all disappear ???? Because they are victims After market companies Want to sell , no care about that engine as well Do you know why Engine eat oil like black m5 from bpc and they said we want to inspect bla bla bla ????? Cause they made pistons specs with no idea how to make Diamond pistons good company But if someone want to make order they said please send us specs Bpc sent wrong specs I bought 2 times rings from total seal My engine eat 1 liter for first 1000 km And mow every 500 km 1 liter Finally 300 km 1 liter Issue from pistons I am sure they now going to rebuild there engine again after 30000 km want to inspect They try to rebuild again in secret I will tell You updates soon

What about clearance for rod bearing and main bearing ?
What about oil viscosity? Why they said use only 10w60 ? why they use same clearance for crankshaft and rod bearing size ? Did they asked them self ? Bla bla bla with no good answer ? Stock engine clearance .025 mm -.038 as max Too tight I inspected all parts after removing engine and checked everything more and more How come i use 10w60 without modified clearance first ??? Use 10w60 for forget pistons and sleeves right ,? Without modification? Bad result

My motor build from BPC (# 3 or 4 )was an epic fail .
I had my motor sent to them got it back and had our local bmw dealer do the install since they are quick and we have a good relationship with them. They got everything in , m5 wouldn't start and they found that the intake cam on bank one and the exhaust cam on the 2nd were 180 degrees out. Installed backwards but with the tool bmw provides it can be just human error .. Thankfully having seen that before in house they sorted it quickly not wasting much time chasing diagnostics . So everything gets put back together and the tech calls me right away saying once the car gets warmer the exhaust is smoking really bad . Check everything from turbos and scope the valves to find one not closing properly.. Prior ,I let BPC know about the cam issue and they said they will "make it right". I then let them know there is material in the heads and that one valve is open (brass from the custom valve guides was the material). They asked me to send back the motor or even with the car and for all of this they would "tune" the car for me.. Sending it from vancouver canada wasn't happening especially with the car due to logistics of the border etc plus i was pissed. Considering the cost of this motor build I would expect a perfect motor.. I have all the emails back n forth with the owner of BPC during all of these issues. I have other builds and work/life that i couldn't just focus on this and the dealer was looking at this like "WTF" cause they knew how much i had spent. My current situation is that ill be running the bpc bottom end but have done my own spec of heads. The valve guides issue was cause the fitment of BPC's setup It was complete shit if it had ran good right way it wouldn't of ran for very long due to finding that later when having it apart some were very easy to take out. They have literally killed my passion to build this car i just want it running and that's it . I won't be installing the weistec 3582R kit anymore so if anyone is looking for a brand new kit not used or mounted .Im willing to let it go at a good price. I really like to stay out of this drama but its better that people know before falling into the guinea pig phase . I haven't heard from BPC nor have i contacted them since the end of 2018 just due to frustration and them knowing where I stand. Never seen anything to make it right or cover any expenses I've had to deal with so far. I will have the car back together in the next few weeks .

Engine woes
Sorry to hear that about BPC. Would you possibly have pics of what the dealer found wrong with the heads?

I have video of when we found oil on several valves ( brand new valve seals put in according to invoice which I'm not doubting but was a snowball effect). Once the springs were removed we were able to reproduce the oil flowing down the stem. You can see the brass dust from the guides washing down with the oil.

Im waiting to see what happens with this bottom end since i am confident in the heads and everything else that I've had sorted. Everyone has hiccups as a engine builder and nobody wants to look like a sucker or guinea pig as a customer. But i guess we will see what happens when people start doing stuff besides dyne videos.

Glad you have aired this out. There is a lot of stories like this for various builders that never make it public.
So far the only builder with multiple s63tu’s running well out there is Carbahn. They are expensive but they just work. Everybody else is just Mickey Mouse and literally have < 25% of motors even starting up and idling let alone run and make any meaningful power. Don’t drink the kool aid! |
