Now that I've nearly paid everything off I'm comfortable driving to 180,000 or 200,000 who knows. There's no other car that justifies another loan right now. Even the 2013 is still (in my opinion) the best sedan you can buy.

Now that I've said this.. the engine will fall out.

While I stand by all of the above... living without a warranty isn't for everyone. If it helps you sleep at night.. worth it. If you're not mechanically knowledgeable.. if you don't know what to listen for, what to feel, or what to smell before it blows up.. If you don't check your fluids, keep an eye on what goes in and out.. If you can't do your own work.. Get a warranty.
Good insight. Are you modded or stock?

I'm satisfied with the stock power. Even with my rear 305 Pilot Sport 4S I'm sliding around all over the place. I'm not sure what I'd do with even more power.

I do have a crazy hair to go all out. But I don't want race fuel and I don't want methanol. Short of these, your gains are limited even with upgraded turbos. It's tough to crack that 800whp and keep it a practical daily.

Agreed although I will say a stg2 tune car w/ downpipes and 93 oct is a very diffrerent experience from a stock M5. If I do keep my car long term, I'll go Stg2 w/ Downpipes.

Ditto. I don't even think I'm going to cross the 50k mark this year. I just don't have anywhere to really drive. I'm somewhat mechanically inclined but as I've gotten older I've found that unless I'm upgrading something I rarely want to spend the weekend underneath a car. When I was younger that was every weekend. He'll I haven't even attended a car meet yet.

I'll do some appearance mods and enjoy the machinery.

Ironically, stage 2 with DP would be the reason you can't keep your car long term without eventually rebuilding or replacing the motor.

That's a good point too and to be honest, my thought changes daily. Today I'm thinking I'll sell my car lol

*edit - or at most, stay w/ my basic Dinan Stg1. It was installed by the dealer and knock on wood, has been great.

What is it about the those mods that contributes to premature engine failure?

Adding 150-ish wheel HP and around the same or more in TQ. It's just more than the engine and driveline were designed to handle. Couple that w/ the delivery of power via hot-mount twin turbos (lots of TQ early on) and you've got a recipe that bends rods. Generally speaking, TQ down low bends rods.

I was always under the impression that cars that are turbo'd from the factory have a certain amount of power you can get out of them before having reliability issues. My Evo was more around 425-450 without a ton of torque down low to keep the rods happy. I didnt think an extra 150hp would test the limits of the platform.

Oh well I'm happy with the power as is. Isnt the fastest car I've owned but a twin turbo V8 power delivery is way different then a single turbo 4 cylinder. I just punched it yesterday with my son and he couldnt wrap his brain around how fast the car felt. He said it felt faster then my Evo did (my Evo had over 750 but was always in the shop). I agree. Anyway I'll just do some appearance mods for now. After 2 years of ownership I'll decide if I'm going to roll the dice on getting more power if I'm tired of the power it has now.

I know
One of 14 ever made.
there are 6 in the US, 3 RHD UK ones and 5 EU ones.

Mine is one of 3 identical ones made by a German dealer, and is pretty much fully loaded with options and red contrast stitching on the interior.

Hard car to sell for sure, but I did not plan to start a car collection, I already have one 30 year old BMW that I have owned for 14 years in the garage.

Beautiful M5, in and out 😍
I almost bought the exact same spec here in Germany, but I was too slow. Then I found my current Frozen Blue M5 with Silverstone interior and I'm happy.

Amazing landscape, I need to get into some picturesque areas soon. I'm planning a trip to the Dolomites in Austria soon, should be fun!

Once again, congrats to your unicorn, she's a keeper!

I saw one for sale on Mobile.de about a year ago, think it was one of the 3 clones.
Mine was hard to sell, it spent almost a year for sale at the dealer that imported it before the previous owner bought it, then he owned it for a year and spent 2 months trying to sell it before I bought it.
Seems to be a car/color that many think looks great but don't want to own.

Landscapes are typical Norwegian west coast. The snowy one from Lysefjord, the other one from Hardangerfjord.
