Downpipe Flexi

I have seen lots of downpipes for sale with small "flexi" sections welded in.

Is there any advantage to this?

Is anyone using these style of downpipes?

Probably due to the fact aftermarket ones have a tendency to not make them properly
The flexi bend allows margin for error in their product
