FYI there are 3 ways to get a leather dash
1) Option 4M5 - just leather dash $2200
2) Full leather - $3500
3) Full Individual leather - $6875

So if you are getting Extended individual, you are better off getting full individual
leather instead of extended +4M5.
Anyone seen an extended leather with leather dash? Does it look weird since the glove compartment area is in plastic?

Not really. It looks fine. Definitely better than same thing with plastic dash. I have pics of Option 4M5 in my old 550i here.

However - personally I think your hesitation around full Sakhir is misfounded. Remember the glove compartment is down by your knees, it is not at eye level. At eye level you see mostly black - the headliner and the dash. So when you are in a full sakhir car it actually doesn't seem very orange - it seems two-tone.

I would definitely go for full sakhir over partial sakhir with leather dash. Full leather makes the car seem more finished. With partial, I can't stand the plastic door trim, seat backs, and lower dash.

Yes I am pretty disappointed about the excess supply.

I did some Individual research, pun intended.

As per BMW's website the nomenclature is BMW Individual M5. It is not clear to me if a car with a single Individual item or a car with the complete set-up to include Individual paint, Individual extended fine-grain Merino leather, Individual interior trim, Individual roofliner in Alcantara or Anthracite, Individual reading lights in the rear, and Individual high-gloss Shadow line trim qualify for BMW Individual M5 badging. Has anyone who ordered BMW Individual items that weren't part of a complete package been offered the option of Individual badging?

Here's an interesting read:

Not every car that gets the BMW Individual treatment goes through the Garching facility. Very special cars like Karl Lagerfeld's 7 Series have so many alterations from standard that they require days of personal attention from craftsmen.

Less specialized packages that BMW Individual has put together, for the recent limited-edition BMW 3 Series Club Sport for instance, are fitted in place of the normal items on the normal production line.

Similarly, if you ordered two-tone leather for the seats of your new BMW and a special color for the wood, the order would be processed through your dealer, and the leather and wood executed at Garching as the car was being built. The seats and panels would then be brought to the main factory for fitting on the production line so that the flow of assembly is not drastically interrupted. All the same, BMW normally quotes additional time for an Individual product over the normal 12 weeks between placing an order and delivery.

In recent years, a lot of strategic changes have been made. Individual is now available for all BMW Models, but the scope of changes are sub-categorized into three or four areas.

Most exclusive are very special commissions like the Karl Lagerfeld cars. Focused at wealthy individuals and board members of large companies, these flagship cars number about 600 per year.

Next in line are the personalized cars for people who want a special color of paint or interior trim. About 12,000 such cars are made per year, the maximum number BMW can cope with.

Small production runs of special edition cars to a set specification are the next serial production item. "We make anything from 5 to 1,000 such cars in production runs," said Prommesberger. "These are made for specific markets or dealers. In 2001, we built 20,000 cars like this. Ten cars to one specification for the Singapore importer is unique, but it is not quite what we do. It is not our typical Individual philosophy.

"In Germany we have sold a limited edition Compact known as Young Line, aimed at younger owners, and we are building a 3 Series Coupe Club Sport or AVUS as we call it internally, for the UK. We also did a Sport package for the Compact, 3 and 5 Series cars, and BMW has sold a total of 55,000 such cars. All these cars have the parts like body styling, wheels and special seats fitted on the main production line. It is the only way to get quality and low unit costs."

BTW, the official BMW Individual M5 catalog is attached. Good luck on your search for a BMW Individual M5.

I found my frozen white M5 at BMW Encinitas in California. They currently have 15 different F10 M5's in stock.

Yes I was given the option of Individual badging - door sills and steering wheel - however I turned it down in favor of keeping the M badging.

BTW My interior is not in the catalog you posted. The interior code is Z1XX. The ones in the catalog are extended leather interiors (they each have unique interior codes, whereas Z1XX is a catch all code for anything off menu).

I wish I could see a full Sakhir M5. The other thing which I dont like as much in full (although I cant see it wen driving ) is the back of the front seats in Orange also. I liked the two tone look there.

I would love to have a Frozen White M5, I am just not sure of how hard is to maintain the paint.

It's easy to maintain unless it gets chips which are impossible to repair without repainting. And they do get chips.

Perhaps potential owners like me got tired of taking care of the leather dash. It did not age well on the E60. I don't want to deal with it.

Well in that case you guys in a few years will be relegated to buying Toyotas.

The leather dash is going to be standard across the BMW range fairly soon, just like it already is on the 6 series. There are indications it may become standard with the F10 LCI, and if not certainly with the next gen 5.

Personally I find that conditioning the leather is a lot less effort than washing the car.
