ECU Tune
Time has come for me to move on from piggy tune to ECU tune. Full disclosure, I have limited knowledge when it comes to tunes.
I’ve been doing a lot of research on different tunes, and I’ve narrowed it down to BPM, BM3, Active Autowerke and VF Engineering. Let me start by stating that I’m not chasing power as much as reliability of the tune and customer service. I’m looking for a somewhat conservative tune that adds power throughout the power band and not just above 3 or 4K RPMs. I’ve seen some comments about companies raising boost way past the limits of S63tu engines, which I’m trying to avoid. It would be greatly appreciated if you can share your experience with aforementioned tunes. Last edited by WickedBMW; 07-21-2018 at 10:07 AM.. |

22 psi is max you can do unless you're running jb4+bcm or upgraded to 3.5 bar MAP sensors.
I'll recommend MissionPerformance. I've been running his tune for 15k+ miles starting from stage 1 to stage 2. He is pretty conservative with the tune, unless you ask specifically to push it. Customer service is top shelf, but I will say he is a very busy guy. Be ready to potentially replace coils/plugs, etc. With such big power change. |

Ill put my vote in for BPM Sport. Mike Benvo is the man. Answers every question and tailors tunes to customers individual needs. Ive had my stage 2 tune of his in for over 5k fun and pain free miles!

I've been extremely happy with my VF ENGINEERING HEX Stage 1 tune. My beast is my daily driver with 2 car seats in the back for taking the kids everywhere. Love the smooth daily drivability. Gets after it so nice when I get to go play on the twisties with the crew. Great support and reliability with VF Engineering too. Since install in Dec, absolute zero issues. Had nothing but problems previously with brand new Dinan Stage 2 installed at BMW dealership. Couldn't be happier with the flash tune and installed it in my garage in 20 min as you get your performance tune emailed to you.

Another vote for BPM. Mike is great, customer support is top notch, flashing is easy, and stage 2 power is impressive.

If you're going stage 2 ecu tune, keep in mind your stock clutch will probably start slipping after a little time. Have BPM stage 2 and clutch started slipping after a week or two. Totally worth it though because the car is a completely different animal now.

I’m strategically buy things like axles, driveshaft and etc, so when my warranty expires all I would have to do is just add a tune. I already fortified diff mount. This weekend I’m installing AMS catted DPs and KW HAS kit. In about two weeks I’ll be installing SSP clutch with heavy duty transmission cooler.

Extremely happy with my Mission Performance Stage 2. Outstanding performance on pump 93 octane.
21psi by 2600rpm, slowing climbing to 23.5si by redline. 6-8 degrees of timing advance through most of the RPM band. On E30-E35 net blend it gets even better, and timing holds steady with 10-12 degrees of advance. Brand new 305 P4S feeling the pain. |
