Road quality compliance is actually a concern of mine as well. I don't want another car that is so stiff that it rattles the fillings out of my teeth when I drive over a slight crack in the street. This is the reason why I am leaning more towards the McLaren MP4-12C one day instead of something like an all out track ready car like the GT3. But we won't really know until we drive one. Plus I just like the way that the McLarens doors open up, although the GT3 may be cheaper.

I want something raw and mind bending. I found the 991S to be a bit of a luxury cruiser, so hoping the GT3 or certainly RS will bring the raw

I havent read up all too much so this is interesting. Do you think they are comparing the car to its previous generations? Id then say its still a hard ass car. Do you think the PDK has something to do with this as rowing is far more laborious when it comes to street and traffic driving?

I love my 9914S- with the right options (active suspension) you can get a docile yet very hard daily driver that has entirely limited body roll and neutrality that is quite amazing. But that is mostly chassis and the GT3 and the 991 are slightly related. You do have to drive the 991 in sport plus mode though to get the most out of it.

Totally off topic but a local dealer had a used RS5 so I went to drive it hoping it would have somewhat of the same feel as my R8 (not really but was just hoping maybe a smidge LOL) and while it was quick, it still carried moderate understeer into turns over 80 mph. It was a very fluid car though- the gear shifts were unfelt in sport auto mode. I really like the way it looks so it intruiged me a bit. But now it doesnt not so much LOL.

I believe that this is in comparison to previous generations of the GT3, not alternate vehicles. The 991 GT3 will still be very stiffly suspended in comparison to say the R8 set in normal mode, but much easier to live with on a daily basis than the 997 versions etc. As a true DD especially when inclement weather is thrown into the mix, the R8 would still be the one to have IMHO.

That is a good point - for most, no. Seeing that I really only ferry them to swimming practice and the oldest is front seat capable now (youngest will be in 2 years too)...yes. Now, if I need to truck the family around I'll need to borrow my wife's car. But I am thinking of getting her a Cayenne GTS

I am not at all concerned about tightly sprung suspension. In fact, that will be quite welcomed, especially on the GT3.

^ this. And what Rob said, the 90% of the time I am in the car by myself. Mostly by design

I dont care if we have good weather or not, an AWD car serves more than just a climatic consideration for me.

AWD can certainly can have its benefits outside of foul weather.

Considering the cost of these toys I am now of the position that I will only buy a car that I can test drive; at minimum something similar. Agreed you can't get the full experience of ownership but at least your expectations are slightly managed. I also recommend testing all the cars you are about to buy on the same day that way you get a true sense of all the sensations. On the day of my R8GT drive I think I tested about 7 cars at 3 different dealerships. It was fun and really helped me pick. As a matter of fact I was not even ready to buy a car until I drove the R8GT, I was totally looking to put a deposit on something for later in the year or 2014 spring!

GT Option 2:

Only those ones have CCeramics and they are mind blowing on the GT. Didn't notice if any are close to you but if they are ask for a test.
