MCB M5 CP attracts far less attention than my Jetstream Blue Corvette C6 did. However, the Corvette was more of a crowd pleaser, strangers saying how nice it is. I get about the same amount of people trying to race maybe a little less because people don't know what the M5 is. I think the worst are the M2/M3/M4 or hot Audis, and will attempt astonishingly dangerous gambles to try to cut ahead of me even though they are turning off the street/expressway in 5 more seconds while I am continuing on. And anytime the CP exhaust is open it definately makes everyone want to race me or at least prevent me from passing them, even though they intend to go slower than me. The Corvette was the same way when I opened the bi-mode exhaust and left it open.

I like BMWs because they are good sleeper cars. In fact, I bought a complete non-CP exhaust and am going to put it on as an experiment because the CP exhaust is clearly louder than other BMWs and interferes with my sleeper undercover status.

Couldn't agree more. I had an 09 Z06 that was atomic orange, and had the exhaust switch. I got so much attention in that one. I've had the M5 for a week and almost nobody ever notices. Being Silverstone, it is a lot less flashy and I love it.

Thumbs up seem to be the norm and others just stare at the wheels/brakes.I blew a Focus RS away from the lights last week then at the next lights I let him go and he continued at breakneck speed overjoyed at his victory.

Nobody knows what an M5 is except somebody who owns one. I love it.

Mostly had Mustang GT's bursting by me when taking a turn, sort of like I didn't realize we were racing, stuff like that. However, never challenged on the freeway because they know.

I get people trying to race me in my M6 Vert all the time... If I'm on an open stretch of freeway I'll do a pull to 160 and slow back down to 65-70... When they finally catch up to me a few minutes later, they pull up and give me a thumbs up...

One saturday morning I was cruising to work and had my top down just enjoying and I had a run in with a Mustang GT, Camaro ZL1, and a S2000. Needless to say, none of them could keep up. I guess people don't expect a convertible to go that fast?

It's worth remembering that the M5 4.4 has practically the same power as previous model Ferrari 458 and there's only 0.3 sec difference in the 0-62 dash using launch on dry sticky tarmac.

And the additional 1000-1200 pounds of weight on the M5, depending on what's in the car and who's driving.

Do you get much hassle with people trying to race you, asking questions at fuel stations etc?
I've already had a few offers to race. Mostly compliments. I love it and I love to engage others because I was always the same when I would see a M5. It still turns my head. Now mine turns my head the most.
