Best way to store an M5

Looking at putting my M5 in storage for a few months. Whats the best way to store? I know when a car sits too long, there can be problems.

put it on jack stands (optional), change the oil before storing if it is past half way to oil change, disconnect battery and put it on trickle charger, wash and wax before storage, put a couple of cups/containers with baking soda inside.
hope this gets you going. Have never had a problem after ding that.

If your storing and putting on jack stands, make sure you put the stands under the lower control arms so the suspension is loaded. You do not want to leave the suspension at full extension for an extended time. I also put dryer sheets in my cars all over the interior, keeps critters away. Trickle charger is a must, full tank of fuel is a must and full detail inside and out. I also would change the oil the day of storage and try to limit the run time so the oil is as fresh as possible for storage. GL!

I wouldn't bother doing any of that if its only 2 months with the exception of battery on charge and a good wash before hand. Make sure you go for a drive after washing to dry the brakes etc.

OP if you are only storing a few months no need for jackstands, mine sits in the garage covered from October/November to April.

What is a good battery maintainer to use for F10 M5? Is the OEM battery still AGM or is it lithium ion?

I use BMW battery tender, but if I remember correctly it's a rebranded CTEK charger.

hook up the battery to a tender in the engine bay, do not put it directly on the battery in the trunk

Yes, that's what I've been doing.

However, I just put on winter tires so I'll be driving the M5 on good days.

I have a CTEK MUS 4.3 which I believe is the same exact one that BMW rebrands for their own, part# 61432408594

Any major difference between this one and the CTEK MXS 5.0 you mentioned above?

Also do you know what kind of batteries come stock in the F10 M5? Is it a non-AGM?

I just had to purchase a battery charger given the extremely cold weather here lately, so I just did the research on them. Decided to go with CTEK.

The 5 is pretty much a newer version of the 4. The 5 is the one currently listed on the CTEK website. They're very similar units. I ended up buying the 5 on amazon, it was actually $20 less than the 4..

M5 will sit for a week. Trickle?

Do I still need a trickle charger if only sitting for a week? Battery is 7 months old.

I was gone for 9 days recently, had the car for only 3 months now. It's a 2013 and assuming it's factory battery only 21k miles. Started just fine after that time period.

Thanks. Good to know. I just bought the Ctek MXS 5 anyway since it's 105+ degrees here now and not much cooler in my garage. For the $66 it cost me on Amazon, I figured it was cheap protection.

you will be fine, although it's a good idea to connect to a trickle charger if you are not driving often
