Straight pipe

I have an aftermarket exhaust on my F10 but it's not loud enough. I'm thinking of going straight pipe but don't know if I really need to straight pipe the whole thing or just from the mufflers. Anybody have either setup and can talk about how the drone is? Also any codes that came up? Thank you

If going downpipes with cats, would it still be loud or should I consider going catless?

I'll do it! Coming from you man should be sound advice haha. Also your M5 is what made me want an F10 man. Seen an exhaust of your car and YouTube and it was beautiful!

Yes sir, coming from an E60 M5 with RPi Catless Headers and RPi GT Exhaust, I had to find a way to make the F10 sound just as good as the E60's V10, in order for me to keep the car. If it weren't for the F10 RPi GTM Exhaust I would've gotten rid of the F10 M5 a long long time ago.

I’ve ran straight pipes with cats and straight pipes with catless downpipes

With downpipes it’s crazy loud ideally to loud but I like it.. but couldn’t bare with the cold starts so turned that off

Most will probably prefer the sound levels with cats

A catless DP with the RPI GTM would take it to the insane level. some drone at around 1800 rpm but no one really drives at that rpm. cracks and pows during gear change for sure

Curious to know what exhaust you already have on it? I have the Turner straight pipes which is just a muffler replacement. I love the sound and not a lot of drone.

Ive got catless downpipes and stock exhaust

I put comp mufflers one rear and it didn't change much

Is removing resonators going to make it much louder?

I have CP exhaust. I cut out the top rear section of the muffler and pulled out all the packing. Then I made a sheet metal plate and formed it around the section of pipe that has all the holes in it. I welded that in place and then welded the top section of the muffler back on. Just the top half has the holes covered. I can't get to the bottom of the pipe without cutting out the bottom of the muffler.
It sounds great with no drone. Definitely louder and more "crackly" than stock.
I also cut out a resonator and found absolutely nothing inside. It's just a straight through pipe with no holes or anything, so I just welded it back in. I don't see how a straight pipe would change anything.
Maybe the standard exhaust has vent holes inside the resonators but the CP resonators definitely do not.

Post keep mufflers on

whatever you do avoid deleting mufflers, the drone between 1500-2000rpm is terrible!
