Just seemed silly that N54's got a fully functional one and poor N52's got the silly fuel economy needle.

The car is different and like anything new and different there's a learning curve you need to get past before that screen becomes as second nature as a window switch. A manual transmission is a scary thought for people who've never used one. This is exactly the same.

Why?

Every other car has all the info in the right place, why do I have to relearn it? Why do I have to go through 3 menus to make simple changes?

I was lost when you had to pay for your own charging, which pushes you back into a Model S. I like the range on the Model 3, but when someone says they no longer need those 300 welds.....makes you wonder how many corners were cut to achieve their 5000 per week quota. They aren't building iPhones.

I have an oil temp gauge - All E92s did regardless of engine.

Weird, maybe it was just the 128i? I just recall when choosing one of our cars between either the N54 and N52, one didn't have an oil temp gauge.

E90s with the N52/N51 don't have the oil temp gauge, just the E92s. Pretty stupid IMO to make the cluster different and also not even have a coolant temp gauge. Instead I get to watch an inaccurate fuel economy "gauge" swing back and forth like an old grandfather clock while I'm in traffic.

Granted- Free Supercharger charging is free charging, but I can't imagine owning an EV without the vast majority of charging being done at home. For this reason the free public charging seems to me to have limited value.

We have people charging their cars at work instead of home.

I've heard this argument before, and even gave it some personal consideration since there was free public charge points about 300 yards from my (now former) office. I decided that it isn't realistic to have to rely on public charging that is only near your work.

First, what happens when you change jobs? Now I have to find a job I like, that compensates me well... and also have convenient Supercharger nearby? Good luck with that. Also, in my case that 300 yard walk could really suck if it's super cold, hot, or stormy. Otherwise my car is about 5 yards away from my desk. For my personal situation there was no comparison.

Also, when I don't go to the office I can't refuel my car? I have to make a special trip to a Supercharger and find something to do for the hour-plus it takes to refuel? That is what I'd call an unattractive burden especially when I can refuel my ICE in <10 minutes without even having get out of my car (NJ is full service only).

IMO an EV is difficult to justify unless it's an extra vehicle that you can charge at home... AND you have solar panels that make charging a very low cost affair. Otherwise it's a purchase of passion and not logic.

Exactly why I still do not own an EV.

I am convinced they will figure out the refueling part, but they are not there yet for my particular use cases.
